Postby Sany1231 » 11 Jun 2022, 10:33

Hey guys, i have a nord lectro 4 with problems of processor. There are times when he goes crazy, changes sounds in the middle of anytime, or does crazy things at startup. Change the programs, etc. Some pepole say if i change the mother board could be a solution....
Do you know the tecnical name of the piece? I dont know how to buy it...its a nord electro 4 sw 73.
Do you think its a waste of time to try it? What should i do?
Its normal to lost a nord after 10 years of use?
Thanks a lot for help me

This doesn't necessarily come from the motherboard (which would be an expensive issue). It may also be a problem of the program selection knob or the like. Which would be way less expensive. Problems like this seem to occur sometimes.

There are more experienced users on the forum who may give you a closer advice.

Intersting what you say, because when do not the maddly thing the keyboard have problems with the delay button. The thing is, if i change the type of delay its changes the octave of the piano....

As problems like this may come from the main circuitry, from a faulty ribbon cable or from the knobs, all observations matter. To narrow your problems down, a detailed description of ALL problems will probably be helpful. If you have octave shift problems with the delay button, I wouldn't think of a button problem in the first place.

If in the end you might give your instrument to a repair shop, they'd be interested in such a description, too. Even with older issues and a repair history, if there have been problems before.

Somebody knows where i can find the motherboard in Europe?
I spoke with Nord france and they says unfortunately this motherboard is no longer available because the prdocut is discontinued at Clavia.

I don't think that there is any other source than Clavia available for a new board since I don't believe that Clavia's service partners hold stock for such an old part anymore.

If it's not available from Clavia there is just the option to look for an used Electro 4, ideally with some outside damages like broken chassis, keys or similar which likely not affect the motherboard itself - such a damaged unit might be sold at a relatively low price then.

Have you verified that it is the mainboard?

It might be the demux on the button/knob controller board, or a power supply issue or power supply connector or trace causing intermittent random voltage drops to a particular chip or section, or perhaps dirty pots?

I am not a technician, but:

I’d try to disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cables in the machine first, in case it’s just oxidised or dirty connectors causing intermittent issues.
