Hi - I am new to the forum- I just purchased an Electro 6D-61 on Tuesday to use with my live setup of a Korg M50 88. After connecting via Midi and checking settings on both boards I am not getting any response from A-1 thru Eb0 on the lower end and F6 thru C7 on the higher end? I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this issue with other controllers or is this perhaps a Korg mapping issue?
thank Matt

Re: Korg M50 midi mapping issue?
You mean, you play the NE6 from the Korg and it doesn't play the entire keyboard range.
Then you may have forgotten to update to the latest firmware, which you can download from Nord's homepage.

that is correct- so even out of the box- it needs a firmware update?

Depends whether there's been an update since they configured the unit in your box.

Re: Korg M50 midi mapping issue?
Since you're in the US, shipping takes a bit longer than to here in Europe. Hence it is not impossible that the unit has been shipped with the OS that was the latest at that time, but is one or more releases behind the current one. This is similar to when you buy a new phone, for instance.
Also, Nord has a history of quite frequent releases, so it's a generally idea to upgrade as the first thing.
And just to underline this point: All my recent Nords came with a very red piece of cardbord in the bag that also has the manual and DVD and wires. On that very hard to overlook sheet, it says something like "before you start playing, upgrade your instrument".' So as Nord suggest, try that first, and let us know if it fixes the issue, thanks

Re: Korg M50 midi mapping issue?
thanks- and that makes total sense- so yes in my excitement to just get playing, I totally overlooked it... The mapping issue has since been rectified, however I will say there is a slight latency that is clearly changing the tone when playing the Nord thru the M50...any thoughts on this?

Re: Korg M50 midi mapping issue?
If you play an instrument over MIDI, there will be a slightly longer delay.
The fastest reaction is probably from the internal keys of the Nord to the internal sounds. You could also try to switch your Nord to local mode, and use a MIDI cable from the Nord's MIDI out to MIDI in, and see how that feels to play. This may give you an idea of whether the additional perceived latency is in the Korg, the Nord, or a combination.
However, having said that, you adjust very quickly to such latencies. It usually takes a song or two and then your brain automatically compensate (unless is really gross). And remember, that the latency you hear also depends on your speakers. If you're several meters away from them, try moving them closer, or use in-ears.
