Foldable, magnetic stand for my Surface Pro

Post by ozio01 »

Hi all,
since my NE5 does not allow a music stand to be mounted, I am considering some sort of tablet stand to place my Surface Pro on the top of the keyboard (there is plenty of space to the right of the control panel).
It must be foldable (to recover it in the bag easily) and magnetic (to avoid it moving/falling).
Before to design and 3D print it, I am wandering if something is already available in the market. Built-in magnetism is not a must, since it would be easy adding a magnetic strip aftermarket.
Any suggestion?
Thanks.
PS: of course... as cheap as possible! :)

Hi. I don't have a solution for the case you intend to put a full Surface Pro including its own keyboard on top of your NE5, but if you only want to put it there in the form like a normal tablet - touch screen only, no typo-keys - then maybe the way I fix my iPad there could be of interest to you. No stand, just a small adhesive silicone pad from Aldi or other discounters, price around 2,- € max, is what I bought. I can stick my iPad in every desired angle. The "glue's impact" is so strong that I can lift the whole nord keyboard just by pulling the iPad. Only restriction may be the visibility when you play sitting. I play standing upright and can always see everything on screen.

Thank you for your suggestion. I am working on a very cheap, ikea-based solution :). I'll post some pictures as soon as I finish it. Anyway, I am luckier than you because the SP, contrarily to the iPad, has its own leg...

Hmm, luckier or not is a relative question. I am indeed very happy with my flat iPad position because it is almost not visible from the audience. If I had it standing upright, even angled, it might be like a wall. I want the public that they can see me, not the technique. But anyway, I'm lucky when you are it as well.

My past SP4 had something like 30°as the minimum angle value. My current SP goes down to 10°. Almost flat if and when I need it. Anyway, I need the stand only during practices, not live. And during practices... I prefer to stay sit down (after the 40th time to play the same bridge... the backache starts arising) :) .

My magnetic, double-side, light, cheap!, firm stand for my Surface Pro. Not foldable but... who cares? :)
It is quite a joke but it works. The SP does not risk to slide or fall, I can change the view angle (with limitations of course...), I can place it to the left or to the right of the control panel, it takes 2 seconds from the bag to be available on the keyboard...
It does what I need. Nothing more, nothing less. :)

Looks good and quite simple, may even carry a tablet. Have fun and keep rockin'.

I like the "classy" look of the wood and the angle, it's perfect...I'm using an Hercules Ipad stand that is attached to one of the legs on my Stage 2 stand because I have a waldorf Streichfett on the right side and a TC Looper X4 on the left side....But good choice, I like it...
