I have a dumb question about this. How does one access the soft/mid/bright and dyno aspects of the enhanced EPs on an Electro (in my case, an Electro 5)? The Stage has buttons for those filters, right? Before I download them, can someone explain how to access those features on an Electro?

So what's the point of downloading them for Electro 5, then? They just did an update for E5: https://www.nordkeyboards.com/

Maybe what I should be asking is this: If you can't access the filters, how are the Enhanced EPs different from (or better than) the regular EPs?

EDIT: I see it now. Just an improved version for E5.

I don't want the enhanced versions on my electro 5 because without the filter buttons what am I getting... Bright, mellow? And I don't trust having extra velocity mapping on A 5 cuz it doesn't support it.
I have the Nefertiti regular and enhanced on my NE 5D 61 and I swear I can't tell any difference.
I thought maybe the attack was different on the keys but I don't think so on my keyboard.
Plus take in the size consideration, the old versions seem larger size.
I don't think they re-recored the nef cuz it sounds identical. I think they just added stuff I can't use.
And with only 61 keys... Who knows what they stretch.. maybe the middle keys aren't.

You should get the plain EP, with none of the filter EQ options applied. Like when you load these pianos on to the Nord Stage 3... if you don't activate/illuminate any of the Timber (EQ/filter) buttons in the piano section, you don't get any of the 5 filters applied. The button does not exist on the 5, so you can't invoke the filters.

What do you mean? There should not be any difference in the velocity mapping capabilities between the E5 and the NS3/E6/etc. There are always MIDI velocities 1-127, any range of which can be mapped by Nord to any supplied sample.

XL pianos are "fully mapped" which should mean no stretching, each key gets its own sample. Non-XL versions stretch samples to adjacent keys.

I'm on an Electro 5 presently and found the enhanced EPs (the new .npno files for the old plain electric pianos) a significant improvement over the earlier versions. Clearly they allow for a more expressive playing, in most/all of them.

I had the E6 for a while and found I did not use the new filters all too often - and much of what they did could be also done in a similar way with suitable EQ settings. YMMV.

In any case I would definitely recommend to put the new .npno sounds into your Electro 5!

Even if you can get something close to the same sound using the board's EQ knobs, it's still nice to have the filters because they don't "take up" the EQ section. That is, you can apply an EP filter to get the EP EQ you want, and still have the board's EQ knobs available for an organ or sample synth sound.

+1 for the enhanced EPs on the E5 even without the filter buttons. You can get a great dyno sound with the brite tines sample and tweaking the mid eq.

That’s right, but with boosted high mids you can get almost the same great dyno sound using the old Bright Tines sample. I like the original, not enhanced, sample even more, because it has more punch, at least to my ears...
