Electro 7 - let it happen!

Postby sonicblue » 04 Oct 2022, 08:16

It's been almost 5 years since Electro 6 premiere
2023 is the 40th Nord anniversary
Dear Clavia, it's really the right time to release the brand new Nord Electro 7
Let's shout out here for it!

What I like in Electro HP is that it combines two instruments, organs and pianos
So Clavia please make us the perfect Electro which will celebrate your 40th anniversary

I think you should:
1. utilize the brand new FATAR TP/110 keybed
2. give 3GB memory for piano section and 2GB for synth section
3. implement new synth engine taken from the Piano 5
4. use bigger oled screen

Please give us at last new Electro! :keyboard2:

Anyone who shares my enthusiasm for having a brand new Electro 7, could you please send your feedback directly to Nord? I'm sure it can help more than doing nothing:

https://www.nordkeyboards.com/about-us/feedback

Many thanks!

Hi, welcome to the Nord users' forum. And as it's a users' forum, you rarely will find a Nord representative who is listening.
Stage 3 Compact (Rev.B 2.1 - OS 2.60) - Kawai VPC1 / Yamaha CP33 - Hall of Fame & NeoVent2 - Behringer Flow-8 - K&M stands 18820+18811 / 18953+18952 - Samsung tablet with MobileSheetsPro & AirTurn Duo200 - QSC K8.2s / Fischer InEars

Hi, thanks :)
Probably you're right, but mind they recommend this forum on the official Nord page. I think it's better place than social media, but I also wrote to Nord support about that. I see many people here wait for updated Nord products if Clavia don't keep up with this probably a drop in sales will dramaticly increase...

So how do Nord keep making money in these difficult times?

Simple... just discontinue the Electro. Then release a Stage 3 as the new Stage Electro BUT with only Panel A. Sell it for 2/3 price of a Stage 3.
Better still give the option of unlocking Panel B as a paid upgrade. Don't companies like Tesla do similar unlocks/upgrades?
Nord just need to change the Logo and do a few software tweaks.

They might lose a few Stage3 sales but I reckon they would sell a lot of Stage Electros because the Stage3 is so expensive and who really needs 2 of everything? I'd buy one for sure.

Basically one has to say that due to the worldwide crises there is a stagnation in the microchip production and the supply chains.

Many big brand manufacturers, such as YAMAHA or KORG, have also not brought a new top model onto the market for many years. At KORG, production of the KRONOS workstation has already been discontinued. There really isn't a sequel here. Also at YAMAHA there has been the top model MONTAGE assembly on the market for too many years, a successor is also long overdue here.

I assume that NORD is also affected by these problems. Even if NORD brings new stage keyboards onto the market, the question arises as to whether the delivery dates can be met or what the prices are for the new keyboards (Stage / Electro) on the market.

I also think that Electro shuld be still a basic model.
But I wouldn't excuse Clavia, but rathey say to them: hey guys are you running your business or not!? Do you want to increase your sales? Then launch new better products and price them good/affordable!
(Roland released new Juno, Yamaha released MOD and more examples, so there's really no "pandemic excuse" in my opinion)

Maybe they don't want to increase their sales so much, they are already doing good with current models and/or want to stay as a small/niche or "boutique" company, like others do as well (I think of Moog for example) and they are a small company so the number of people who work on new models/features is limited... ever thought about that as a possible option/explanation?

PS: I think this little "hysteria" (don't take the term too seriously :-) ) of always seeking new models, "better" something etc. every I year is coming mainly from people who do music as a hobby and many times they seek for a new instrument having exploited less that 10% of what they already own, just ot feed GAS or that initial "wow" effect just because they "I got the latest and better one", while on the other hand I seeand read of many affirmed professionals who keep on using their instruments from 10 or more years ago, simply because they are just used to them, they know them long time (and more than 10%...) and those instruments features and sounds are still good today for their job... something to think about, imho.

If I don't have enough memory for samples & sounds and if the keybed is simply bad and could be better, and the same synth section/engine, sorry this is not 10% of my hysteria and use but rather 95 :)
(Every business needs more sales/income to survive, simple law of economy. Professional piano instruments this is not a niche market but very big and quite competitive worldwide market, Clavia is a part of this market)

Not really, economy is much more complex than that, companies have cycles, "growth" or profitability (which matters most) can also be reached by raising prices (see recent situation) or changing target/product mix and you can be a niche player in a wide market nevertheless (cars are a wide market, Ferrari is a niche player); then what I mean is that if with that "older and limited" model (even if "not enough memory for samples & sounds and the keybed" simply bad") other artists have made worldwide hits or played in shows without any issues, it means that it is not so bad, at least not urgently need an upgrade... or not?

Then of course, space for improvement is always there, but I still believe that if a product has still a good Q/P balance and sells well, a manufacturer may be legitimate to not be in a hurry in issuing a new one.

In any case, considering normal product development and industrialization timings, if an Electro 7 is coming as soon as you'd wish, probably they have already designed it, but if your wishes exceed the specs then Nord may consider them for Electro 8 :)
