Electro 4D - Stuck organ notes

Postby -momo- » 21 Jun 2020, 17:41

Hi all, I tried to search the forum before posting on this issue but did not see anything similar.

Noticed over the last while on my 4D: after playing any organ patch, I hear very faint stuck notes that sound like a mash of keys, and the only way to kill it is to jab the panic button (SHIFT+LIVE/PANIC). It doesn't sound like the stuck notes are a voice sum of what I'd been playing, but it always sounds the same. Even if I kill it with the PB, then just press one key, the same ugly mash of hung notes comes back, again very faintly. Full disclosure - I've not updated the OS since I bought it new; it's never been connected to a computer and I know I should update it. Just wondered if anyone else has encountered it.

It didn't always do this, and I'm not sure exactly when it started, but since I haven't updated anything I'm not sure what might have caused it. I don't MIDI connect it to anything either, but the Panic Button, which as I understand it is there specifically to kill stuck MIDI notes, does indeed kill the stuck notes.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Have you checked the B3 settings (shift+program 3 button, parameter 1) ? maybe it is set to vintage 3. In this occasion there is a noise even if you do not play, like an old and rusty tonewheel organ would behave.

Thanks man. That was exactly the issue, it was set to vintage 3. I reset to "CL" (clear) and it went away. "It's not a bug, it's a feature!" I'm okay with that. :)

Thanks Nord user forum. Over the last six years since owning this beast, I've brought three problems here. The first was a factory defect (fixed by replaced unit under warranty), the rest have been config issues caused or misinterpreted by myself, and all solved here.

THANKS!

Haha, those guys in clavia pay such attention to the slightest detail, they even incorporate the defects of the original instrument they want to mimic!

So I guess it's been there since day one, but for whatever reason we've never noticed it before. Like I said, it's very faint. I guess I've been cranking it more lately than I should (I admit to abusing the amp sim overdrive), and it's become more obvious. We did discuss maybe it's emulating tonewheel bleed, and it's oddly reassuring that they were, but I never thought it might be that. :)

Again, thanks!
