No one ?

I went for some answers in the last fews days. Here they are.
stiiiiiiive wrote:2- The user's guide states that the "drawbars" button LED is lit only when the physical drawbars positions match the preset drawbars setting. This is a cool way to check. Though I was wondering: is this for each drawbar or for all of them? I mean: 9 drawbars... is there a way to know when the drawbar you're moving is matching the preset setting for that particular overtone? Or can it just say when all the 9 are correctly set?
I loaded an organ program, the LED was on. I moved a drawbar, it was off. I move a second drawbar, it stayed off. I tried moving the second drawbar I moved all the way up and down, the LED remains off.
The LED is lit when all the drawbars are set to the stored. That’s a pity since this makes… huh… wait… 72?…too many possibilities to go through (in B3 mode). I mean, many players including me don’t need this and prefer shaping their organ sound live, but may be this could have been though a bit more conveniently. I’m still thinking about the Tech21 way:
stiiiiiiive wrote:On a side note, I'm thinking about a system alla Tech21 TriAC. This is a 3 channel/preset pure analogue amp sim. When you switch from a preset to another, if you move a knob, the main LED starts to blink. The closer to the stored setting, the faster the blink. I would love the NE4 to have such a feature... or does it have that yet?!...
And finally:
stiiiiiiive wrote:3- […] Am I right when I think clavinets benefits that too?
I tried the NE4 SW73 and I can say I was right. BTW it’s cool but not as great as I would have expected.

Only remains the Lo-Hi question…

9 drawbars in 9 positions (0-8) gives you 387,420,489 possible unique combinations.

If you really want alternate velocity curves, you should be able to do it by setting it to MIDI: Local Off, and run a MIDI cable from the Out into this box:

and from the box back into the MIDI In.

That makes sense to me. I don't understand how you would implement the Tech21 method of blinking faster or slower depending on how close or far you are from the preset. That makes sense for a single control, but this light reflects the position of nine controls, so I don't understand how you think that would work.

Mate, that's the very idea I had last week :) It made me thinking there is a solution in case the 4D keyboard end bothering me. But, hey, it's the same as on my current NE3 so... I'm not worrying.

The Tech21 stuff works like that. Think of it as a 3 channel guitar amp, but with only one set of knobs. 5 knobs: level, 3 band eq and level. 3 footswitches, one per channel/memory slot. Each footswitch has its own LED.

When you switch the channel, the corresponding LED lits, solid. As soon as you move a knob, as the setting fades from the stored value to the new physical position, the LED starts blinking. The blinking rate depends on the distance between the physical position and the stored value: the closer the faster, until you reach the exact value: then it remains solid again. You're done for this knob.

Then you can move another knob and do it again. The LED rate status remains the one of the last moved knob.
Within 8-10 seconds, you can get to the physical position matching with the stored setting for all 5 knobs.

Clavia could implement this on a drawbar basis, rather than implementing a simple "on-off" indicator on a 9 drawbar set basis.
I'm convinced it's a minor evol in terms of coding and documentation and it does not involve any hardware change.

Clavia can you hear me?...

Hi Stiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive !!

Coming from a NS, where you can easily morph from one drawbars setting to another, and even add the rotary speed in the morph, and just move the control pedal ... It's a completely different approach on the 4D, one has to learn the instrument ;)

As I understand it, it's designed to be used that way : start from a preset, move the drawbar to what we want next, press the drawbar button, play with the drawbars during the whole song, press the "preset" button if we want to go back to the preset ...
We have to know in advance what sound will come out of a drawbar setting, and make adjustements on the fly.

To adjust lower manual in split mode, hold the lo button and move the bars, but I haven't seen that in the 4D's user manual, so, am I right ?

Hey Frantz!

This is right. The only thing that puzzled me is the NE4 was in MIDI split mode, which means only the higher manual can be played from the integrated keyboard.

About the morph, yep, it's a great functionality for sure. I use it a lot on a G2, sometimes for having two completely different sounds in a single patch. Just one modwheel travel away!

Back to the topic, I get what you say, but what indicate the "preset" position" then? Well, ok: just to say "beware, you've been modifying the preset!!" rather than finding it again...
