E5D doesn’t start, instead all lights are displayed

Postby Leondom » 29 Jan 2023, 22:00

Hi there, I've just bought this NE5D to a friend, and after a few uses it started to display all lights at the same
time when I try to turn It on. I mean, cant even access to panels and the main screen doesnt turns on either.
It doesn't reproduces any sound. I want to know if it's and electric problem? Or is it a major problem. I'm kind of
desperate because I didn't bought it new, so I Really want to know what should I do. Thanks!

Did you try to switch on the keyboard only with the power supply plugged in, but without any MIDI and USB cable connected?

Open it and check that all cables connecting the panel boards to the mainboard are well seated (unplug and replug them on both sides)

Good afternoon,
Leondom. I wanted to ask you if you managed to solve the problem with Nord electro 5d. I just also have such a problem, the key does not start (((If you managed to repair it, I will be very rich if you tell me how?

I just came by from a technical support store and they told me that it seems to be a spilled liquid on a electronic card. I´m kind of devastated because I live in Ecuador (South América) and we don´t really have access to big music stores where we can find these elements. So, If anyone knows, can I order it in Amazon or any other place aorund the net? Do you think this disgnostic is right?

I see some residue on the upper card in the photo and what looks like some discoloration of some of the DSP component packages (inside the drawn circle), so to me the diagnostic seems reasonable.

Did you or the technical support store take these pictures? -- I see no obvious corrosion, but improved photo resolution might point us towards a failed component.

I notice a component mounted in a socket (label = NE5 / 1.0-28) inside the affected area on the lower card. If liquid entered this socket, we could not see the corrosion. Before repairing/replacing, I recommend asking your technical support store to remove the component, inspect for corrosion, clean the socket and component if corrosion found, and then re-seat the component in the socket.

Hi Leondom

I have just had exactly the same problem! All lights and nothing else.
I have fixed it by taking the keyboard apart and cleaning the motherboard with a soft toothbrush and then hoovering any dust/hairs away so it is as clean as possible.

It works again!! :-)

I think dust/hair was causing a short circuit on the motherboard.
