Hi.
Totally new to VSTi and have been messing with a few. When I play/record from the E5D, a piano mimics the instrument I am playing, annoyingly delayed. When I click on the virtual keys, it does not happen. I can't get rid of the piano! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thx,
Alan

Re: E5D and VSTi
It is likely that you have set it up to respond to NE5D Global MIDI Channel: try to switch it off; you need to think of computer+VST as an expander, then please refer to Scenario 2 of MIDI paragraph in the NE5 manual.
PS: more detail needed: which VST piano and VST host are you using? Probably you can exclude NE5 from there too, when not needed.

Re: E5D and VSTi
And the delay/latency suggests you are using an onboard sound card - for VSTs a dedicated audio interface is the way to go to achieve low latency.

Re: E5D and VSTi
I can recommend Steinberg UR22 and 44 (depending on your need for inputs). Very good products and no latency for me...

Re: E5D and VSTi
Thanks for the suggestions! The global midi channel was the culprit! Still had latency issues (using Reaper right now) but reduced buffer and its pretty much gone.
As a follow up, is there a way to split the VSTi so that it only applies to the upper? I messed with the midi settings on the NE5D but nothing seemed to work. Still hear VSTi under local playing on lower split. Seems like an easy fix, just cant find it. THANK YOU ALL!!

Make sure you are using an ASIO driver like ASIO4ALL

Channel Upper split must be set to the same (and only) channel the VST is receiving on, and that channel must not be the Nord's Global Channel.
