use drawbar as a midi slide controller

Postby Ezio Mirrione » 22 Jun 2018, 11:49

Hello to all,
I'm testing my NE5 as a kontakt controller and would like to know from you if the drawbars can be used as linear slides instead of stepped and if you can reverse the direction towards adjustment.
Too much????
Thank you in advance

Please stick to English (Google translate is fine).

Buon giorno Ezio,
Sei il benvenuto a quisto forum,
(Just kidding Analogika, entshuldigung, du hast recht, we have to stick to english despite the temptation to learn a few words)

Do you own a 5D with physical drawbars ?
They send continuous midi control change values, and can be assigned, used as controllers.
I don’t know about button drawbars ...

hanks for answering!
yes, it's the 5d waterfall with physical drwb, and it's just been 2 days ... I'm in the full exploratory phase, but since tomorrow night I play, can you give me detailed instructions on how to do it?
Thank you!

Assuming Frantz is correct (that the drawbars send continuous values, i.e. 0-127), that and running a cable to your computer is as detailed as the instructions get. Everything else (i.e. assigning the values the Nord puts out to do what you want them to do in Kontakt) would have to be done on the computer side.

ETA: as corrected below... the drawbars send only 9 values in the 0-127 range.

Ah, that's not so useful for VST control, then. It would probably be fine for controlling other organs which similarly don't need all the on-between values, but would not generally be so useful for synth parameters and such.
