Connecting Mini-Crybaby to Electro 3

Postby cjp5v20101 » 04 Jun 2018, 16:55

Hi all,

I have a very basic setup issue that I hope someone can help me troubleshoot.

I bought a Mini-Crybaby wah pedal to connect to my Nord Electro 3 to use and am not sure how to set it up. I got a 9V power supply to use so that is all set.

What I am not sure about is how to connect the wah pedal to the keyboard and to the amplifier. Do I still have my mono 1/4" cord going from the main keyboard output into my amplifier? Or does the keyboard mono output 1/4" cord go into the "Instrument" side of the wah pedal? Or does the wah pedal "Instrument" side go into the Control Pedal slot on my keyboard? I am so confused with all of this for just a basic wah pedal connection to my keyboard.

Searching other forums / online has provided me no clear-cut instructions. Just want to get my wah pedal setup to use for expression. Didn't think it would be this hard.

Thanks,
Chris

you would want to run your keyboard into the wah's input and then into the amp via the wah's output. nord > wah > amp.

it is modifying the actual sound that comes out of the keyboard. if you bought something different to control it via the control pedal slot, it wouldn't change the sound at all.

Hmm.

So I now have the setup you described and I'm not getting any effect through crybaby pedal action. I have 1/4" from Nord left mono --> 'instrument' side of pedal --> 1/4" out of 'amplifier' side of pedal --> into amp input. I'm still screwing something up. The keyboard is muted to 0 when the crybaby is clicked to 'off' and when I click it 'on' they keyboard sound is successfully passed through to the amp, but I have no effect when i rock back and forth on the crybaby.

Something still seems to be up.

it's odd that you wouldn't be getting any sound... there should be sound passing through it regardless of it's on/off position. difficult to trouble shoot from over here... but there isn't that much to screw up ha! sounds like you're doing it right.

if you have other instruments i would try them through it. if you bought it used, it's possible the switch or something needs to be replaced.

Not sure why you'd have a problem unless it's a bum pedal.

I used my guitar player's cry-baby with my E3 and it was fantastic. Way better than the on-board wah sim. Same setup as you: nord -> wah -> amp. Simple as pie.

I suggest running a guitar or another instrument thru the wah and see if it's not the pedal.
