Connecting a second keyboard

Post by playitagainken »

I'd like to try connecting my Novation Launchkey 61 to my Electro 4.
The manual tells me to connect the midi OUT of the external keyboard to the midi IN of the Nord.

The Launchkey 61 only has a USB socket, there are no 5-pin midi outputs or inputs.

I have a midi USB to 5-pin adaptor but the USB plug is the wrong type to connect to the Launchkey 61.

What do I need to make this work?

What you need is a USB MIDI host: Something that has DIN-MIDI in and out sockets plus serves as a host (USB-A) in the USB relation towards the Launchkey (USB-B). It takes the role of a computer in the USB relation.
