Hi Guys,
Does anybody use a breath controller with NE3?
The only thing I was able to find on the market is Yamaha BC-3 (Breath controller as headset). But! Since NE3 has no Breath controller input - Breath to MIDI converter is required too: http://cgi.ebay.com/MIDI-SOLUTIONS-BREA ... 3a54aad76b
So I wonder if anybody ever tried such combination with NE3 or Nord Wave.

Re: breath controller
I always wanted to get one, but never managed to get the breath controller.
I think its just genius if say, you got a wind instrument sample and you just use the controller to control both velocity and volume, and you'd get very realistic results!

Yes breath controllers are great and luckily there is now an excellent alternative to the discontinued Yamaha BC3A

Actually I just see that there are two models:

Re: breath controller
I still have the BC that came with the DX-7. The circuit diagram is available in the net, so by feeding (I think) 9V between two of the contacts it will generate a changing voltage control on the other contact when blowing into it.
What I do not know is whether there is way of adapting this to use it with the expression pedal pedal connector. The expression pedal is just a passive resistor, so there is some voltage already circulating when using the pedal. Maybe mjbrands can give some hints.

I am afraid you can't, that model is only for use via USB i.e. connected to a computer; then from the computer, using an appropriate application (DAW, Mainstage or similar, or a simple MIDI Routing one) you can send a MIDI CC to an external MIDI keyboard via any MIDI interface.

This one from Midisolutions works with the BC3 http://www.midisolutions.com/prodbth.htm , not sure if also with the older BC1.
@Quai34 (&all): at that page they talk also of a new BC http://kelfar.net/bck-1-breath-controller/ that can be used with the Midisolutions Breathcontroller MIDI box or their own http://kelfar.net/bcxp-pro-breath-expression-converter/ so that is probably the current solution if you want BC directly connected to a MIDI DIN device (such as the ones you listed).

Re: breath controller
Hi all,
although this topic is rather old here, I'd like to re-activate it.
I have a nord Stage 2 and I'm planning a live setup without computer, where I have an external MIDI keyboard attached to my nord stage as well as using a breath controller.
I have been in contact with the guys from TEControl. They provide this incredible "USB MIDI Breath and Bite Controller 2". As it has been discussed here already, you can not simply plug this controller to the nord. Instead you need a USB to MIDI converter, like the "Kenton USB MIDI host". Once you have configuered the breath controller using a computer and the TEControl software, the settings are stored persistently within the breath controller, so that it can be used in a live setting without a computer, but with this USB MIDI host box.
That's great!
Now my problem/question: the nord only has one MIDI In port. But if I want to operate two MIDI controllers (one is my MIDI-keyboard, the other is the MIDI breath controller), how can this be done?!?!
The MIDI keyboards today no longer have MIDI Outs but USB only. Can I connect the external MIDI keyboard via USB with the nord and the USB MIDI host box via MIDI cable to the MIDI In of the nord and use them in parallel?
Would that work? Or am I making a mental mistake here?!?!
Keep groovin',
Andy
