I took my Electro3 back to the shop; the importer fixed the noise. No noise left.
Alas, the red wooden side panels were dented in the fixing process.
After a long time I got new side panels, but they were a much darker red;
not as nice as the original ones, but then I gave up.

The spring noise fix seems pretty easy, and my Electro is out of warranty. If anyone would care to share it, what's the procedure for opening up an E3-61? I'm assuming the end blocks come off first, or is that wrong?

Thanks,
Michael

Then unscrew the somewhat bigger screw in the middle of the bottom

I realized my last post sounded rude, sorry about that. Honestly my HP makes some noise and the other nord 73, or 61's I played made noise too. I have owned many keyboards and they too made plastic clunk sounds. Honestly I don't think there is a way around it, and you just learn to ignore it or incorporate it into the music. Playing on pianos they always have a noise too but very quiet if tuned right. And then you have old fashioned pianos that make all kinds of key noises. Also playing on organs, old and new, the keys always make noise. Just my two cents. But I am curious that you guys have been able to make it down to 0?

So, just to make sure I have this right: In order to access the note springs on the Electro 3 61 key model, it's a matter of taking off the side panels, then the 5 back screws, then a screw on the bottom, in the middle?

yeah Im starting to notice the clacking sounds as time wears on, have gotten more noticeable. On other HP units, do you guys experience the noise gets a little bit louder on the upper register? The last 13 notes, spring action is really loud.

Pretty much, yeah. I would change the order of the screws though: bottom one, back panel and lastly the sides. Once you've removed these screws the top panel is no longer fixed to the rest of the instrument, so having it laying upside down isn't very convenient. Be aware that there is a flat cable between the top panel (with the knobs, etc.) and the mainboard on the bottom of the case. Make sure you don't damage it.

Thanks mj,

I see what you mean about doing the bottom screw first. It'll be nice to have a quiet keyboard!
