Bank Select

Postby SimonW » 04 Jan 2018, 01:15

I recently purchased a D5 and am slowly finding my way around it and adapting it to my requirements (as much as I am able).

Anyway, please excuse me if I have missed an obvious answer to my following question, but is there any way to quickly switch between program banks? Scrolling through them with the program selector knob is a pretty slow and clumsy way to do it.

Cheers

Although you can scroll very fast it is clumsy in program-mode unless you know the number you're looking for. A better way is to use the Sound manager software. Go to your bank/program fast and double click.
A practical way is to make use of Songs (each song can refer to 4 different programs). I have all my songs alphabetical so searching is very fast. Once a Song is linked to a Program you can even make changes in the song and store them in the respective program.

Thanks, Venro. You answered my question and I like the idea of using Songs as a workaround for quicker access. I'll give this a try.

It still seems a bit silly that Nord haven't provided a simple "Bank Select" button though. Without this, they might as well have simply done away with calling them banks at all and simply had programs numbered 1 - 400.

Cheers

Hello,
I just bought an Electro 5D 61 and I really like it.

But I also miss a quick program change.
I think there is no need to have a dedicated button thanks to the Shift button.

I've made the following request through the support.
Hopefully, this will be taken into account.

Oops ...

The request :
"Problem : Missing quick navigation between programs and samples.

Given the (great) number of available programs and samples, selecting a
program or a sample is not convenient even in their respective List View
mode. You can only navigate among programs or samples only one by one with
the Prog/List knob.

I've noticed that during a program Store operation, pressing Shift while
turning the Prog/List knob changes the Bank, which is very handy for choosing
quickly where to store the current program settings.

So it would be great to have a similar behaviour for normal program
navigation and sample navigation :
- in the programs List View mode, pressing SHIFT while turning the LIST knob
changes the program bank.
- ‎likewise, in the samples List View mode, pressing SHIFT while turning
the LIST knob changes the sample "bank".
NB : in the piano List View mode, there is already a quick navigation (double
clicking on the MODEL button changes the model)."

Cheers.

You're welcome.
I've found another older post "Quick move between program banks?".
So I guess other people will find this feature request also useful.
I hope to see it implemented in an OS update.

I guess nothing has changed, right??
Currently looking for the same in my NP5. I can search for Sounds alphabetically..
But I’d really like to be able to jump back to A11 real quick..

I now own a NE6. But given the change history for the NE5 firmware, I don't think that something has changed.
It's a pity that this feature request has not been taken into account for NE5 users.
May be you could request the same feature for the NP5 !

For information, the NE6 has handy Page Up / Page Down buttons for changing the program "tenth" quickly e.g from A13 to A23.
And clicking on Shift + Page Up / Page Down changes the bank number e.g from A13 to B13.
