Hi,
My set-up now includes a deepmind6 & Arturia minibrute 2s which i've recently acquired.
I've been jammin with the deep6 and 2S by MIDI syncing them but have yet to try syncing with the Nord also.
School boy question coming... If I use The 2S as the master (Out to Deep6 In, then deep6 thru to Nord) will that enable me to use the FX of the Deep6 and the 2S to manipulate the Nord Drums sounds??
Pardon me if my question is not so clear.
Any info on this if you have used other synths to manipulate the Nords sounds.
Thanks

Re: Using Nord Drum 3p with Deepmind6 & Minibrute 2s
Hi,
Perhaps I misinterpreted your question, but MIDI can only be used to control instruments; digital instructions are transmitted from a keyboard, controller, or sequencer, to a synth, soundmodule, etc. which then follow these instructions, and produce sound, change parameters etc. These MIDI instructions usually include note number, velocity, and MIDI channel, but no information about what sort of sound the synth or soundmodule should produce.
MIDI clock can be used to synchronise the speed/rate of sequences, arpeggiators or effects, between instruments, sequencers or effect units. MIDI clock is transmitted without a MIDI channel, all instruments in the chain will receive the same clock. I think the BPM of the delay of the 3p can be synced to a sequencer in this way, not 100% sure though.
There is no digital or analog audio passed through with MIDI. So if you want to apply audio effects on the Nord Drum 3p sounds with the deep6, or minibrute 2s, you need to route the audio from the 3p outputs to the inputs of the deep6 and/or minibrute, using instrument (jack-jack) cables.
Your MIDI setup seems correct to control both deep6 and 3p with the minibrute 2s, to prevent that both deep6 and 3p respond to the same MIDI instructions, choose a different MIDI channel for each of the 2 instruments, I don't know the sequencing capabilities of the minibrute 2s.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Albert

Re: Using Nord Drum 3p with Deepmind6 & Minibrute 2s
Thank you Albert,
That's cleared that up for me and I look forward to trying this tonight.
Also if you have a minute?
I've got patterning running on my ipad and have midi configured it so it plays my 3P sounds.
I'm finding it very difficult to have patterning sync with the minibrute clock.
I am I missing something in Patterning that will enable me to do this?
Thanks

Re: Using Nord Drum 3p with Deepmind6 & Minibrute 2s
Hi,
It is slightly off topic, and I'm no expert in Patterning, nor on the 2s, I'll give it a shot anyway,
You have to have a MIDI connection from the MIDI out of your clock source (2s), to the MIDI input of the MIDI interface that is connected to your iPad. Make sure the 2s is transmitting MIDI Clock. Then in the app, go to the File tab, tap on the clock under Sync, and enable clock receive, your MIDI interface should be listed there, select it. I think that should do the trick. If not, perhaps check the Patterning community/forum/turorials/manual..
I'm curious: Could you please check if the 3p Delay tempo responds to the clock of the 2s? I can't find anything about clock sync in the manual, (it could be because my brain is slowly starting to boil, unusually high temperatures here in the Netherlands right now)
Cheers,
Albert
