Nord Drum 3P, Left output is louder

Postby Shimao » 13 Oct 2019, 13:48

Hello, everybody,
maybe someone can help me: No matter if headphone jack or normal outputs, my North Drum is always louder on the left side. I've tested everything, cables, headphones, outputs. It must be a setting or a problem with the software. Did an update, didn't do anything. Suggestions?

Thank you!

Hi Shimao,
I bet you checked the panning is set to centre.../tried several drum sounds
How did you measure/determine that there is difference between left and right?
If it's not the panning, and not something to do with other gear/cabling, I think it may be a hardware problem with your 3p..

Hi Albert

Thanks for your clues. The problem occurs with all sounds and has nothing to do with panning. Funnily enough, the right channel sounds much less punchy than the left one when I turn panning all the way to the right and only listen to the right one.

I recorded the 3p, again you can see a difference of several db.

Too bad, I just bought the 3p used...

I had the same problem today with my newly bought Nord Drum 3P and got all sweaty until I tried three different cables and on the third cable (!) got the same volume on both channels. Which is super weird since those cables work on other gear. Maybe the nord drum is a bit more sensitive to bad cables than regular gear? It might be worth a shot anyway :)

Hi,
I think there is slight variation in dimensions between different brands of jack plugs and ports, which may determine if they make good contact or not. But if I'm not mistaken, Shimao reported that with his headphones out he gets the same result as with the main outputs, he even tried different headphones.
