Hi,
No, audio should be coming from your 3p, not your iPad,
The idea is that the app sends instructions to your 3p in the form of MIDI, via the iConnect MIDI interface, the 3p then follows these instructions and produces drum sounds, so you should connect headphones to your 3p, or connect your 3p to an amp or mixer ..

I'm still left sctractching my head over this.
Every command seems to be correct but still no audio when headphones are plugged in to the 3p.
Am I missing something in the app itself?

The app recognises the iconnect so I'm confident it should work.

Everything in the midi section on the 3p, any particular commands other than global channel and midi notes to consider?

Well, I think all relevant MIDI settings in the app and 3p should be ok now; Global MIDI channel + the MIDI notes match, the other settings in the 3p will not affect the interaction with the app

-The black MIDI connector (MIDI OUT) of the iConnect should be plugged into the MIDI IN of the 3p, perhaps try the white one, just in case they are mislabeled
-Does your 3p produce any sound when you hit the pads of the 3p itself?
-Is there a drum pattern in the app (red/orange/yellow squares)?
-If you press play in the app, do you see the green step indicator move from left to right through the steps?
-In the app, on the top left, the velocities can be set for the red, orange and yellow steps, they should be larger than 0 to hear anything.. Just to test your setup, perhaps raise all three to 127

If it still doesn't work, perhaps your iConnect it defective, or your 3p MIDI IN port, it's difficult to tell since you don't have any other synths or samplers with MIDI to test with..

Yes indeed it boiled down to a cluster or worry for nothing.
Black midi out plugged into midi in.....THere we have it... Beautiful sound!
