Ok so what I wish to do is use the TR 8 as the newer FW allows to send midi data but for some reason on 3P regardless of what I do, I cannot isolate the individual instruments
I have set TR 8 as ch 16, should this be global? I have literally done everything else on Nord 3P to changing channel settings, global, I cannot get the note to trigger but I do get sound in the kits
This is frustrating as I do not want to use the Beat app, can anyone assist at all?
TIA

Re: Nord 3P Drum midi implementation
That is just another Roland AIRA team marketing gimmick.
The 1.5 F/W of the TR-8 only ADDS new note numbers to match those for SPX. to make the new SPX sells as an "AIRA" family item.
Actually it send two note numbers or one or none (depending on how you setup the TR-8)
The TR-8 always has send MIDI note data
Check the 1.5 F/W readme of the Tr-8 how to configure this.
Hook your TR-8 up to a PC with MID-OX and check if it sends MIDI notes.
Check you are using the correct note numbers on your ND3 that match those on the TR-8.
Check on the ND3 you use the same MIDI channel for all channels.
Perhaps there are some other settings like local on/off of or send MIDI in the ND3, check the manual.
The TR-8 only send one velocity level to MIDI out. it seems to ignore the volume level of the faders.

Re: Nord 3P Drum midi implementation
Hi SnakePlissken,
If you can set the MIDI channel on the TR8, pick any, if you choose channel 16, make sure the 3P is also listening to that MIDI channel. Good point of Happy to first check what the TR8 is actually sending, with a MIDI monitor application like MIDI-OX, you can check what notes are sent if you can’t set them yourself & it’s not in the manual what the notes are. When you know the note numbers and MIDI channel, check the following on your 3P:
1) If your TR8 is sending notes on MIDI channel 16, use the same MIDI channel on your 3P as general MIDI channel, you want to see this on the 3P: [GL.16], - (this is what it looks like on the Nord Drum2 display, should be similar on 3P).
2) I think you don’t need the individual MIDI channels, so it’s better to switch them off. For each of the 6 channels you should see see: [Ch.OF] on the display. If you do want to use the individual MIDI channels, make sure not to use MIDI channel 16 for any of the individual channels. Otherwise multiple drum sounds will be triggered at the same time when the TR8 is sending just one note.
3) As Happy says, for each of the 6 channels check the MIDI notes in the MIDI settings, and match them with the notes the TR8 is sending.
Cheers,
Albert
