My "totally doable" ND2 OS update wishlist

Post by skintechnician »

Although I'm quite pleased with my Nord Drum 2 & Nord Pad here's a few things that would make it even better :)

1) Increase the available Banks/Programs to 792 (8x99).

2) Please bring back infinite repeat (every ND2 user wants this)!

3) Separate the Click level from the output level so that the user can "mix" the tone/noise with the Click (sort of like the ND2 prototype model).

Thanks to Nord for such a cool, unique instrument :yourock:

I also have a few which could be done software:

1) Undo button
2) midi cc step sizes are more logical (like 1, 2, 3, 4, instead of 0, 3, 6, 8, 11)
3) Reinstate infinite repeat!
4) Reinstate infinite repeat!
5) Did I mention I would like infinite repeat back?
6) Infinite sustain
7) Velocity link to parameters like pitch or sustain (so its always same volume but if hit pad harder then pitch changes)
8) Variable Q in parametric equaliser
9) Reverb effect
10) More effects in general
11) Filter for tone section
12) More scale presets

I do not have an ND2, but a similar situation happens in the NS2, for example, for the LFO frequency and other scales that are continuous but are addressed by a discrete encoder.
Most likely this is the result of the number of encoding positions being smaller than the available values (a look up table).
Renumbering so they look logical but not matching the value they address would be even more confusing...
Let's say you see 21 but the output value is 37... it would be pretty difficult to set (or get close to) a desired value, by looking at the display. At least now you have an idea of where you are in cc value and you know that not all values are possible due to the encoder resolution.
Of course they could increase the encoder resolution to span all possible values if the scale is also discrete.

Where did you find out about those intervals ?

I am getting crazy trying to adjust the params from Lemur! If anyone has the info of those intervals please share ( i mean, for example if the different options in "Noise filter type" values correspond to 10, 20, 33, 47, 78... same for other discrete parameters.
