Hi!
I have the Nord Drum 3P connected to a Mac Pro via a Roland UM-One MKII midi interface and try to establish a connection in the Nord Drum 3 Manager app. However the UM-One is not shown in the list of Midi Interfaces in the Midi Setup window. The Nord Drum OS version is 1.24 and I have switched the UM-One to "Comp" mode, for use with a computer.
I have also tried hooking up the Nord Drum directly to the midi IN/OUT din ports on my RME Fireface 400 audio interface, but when I choose "Fireface 400" in the Midi interfaces list in the Nord Drum 3 Manager and click OK, I get a message saying "No reply from drum".
Does anyone know what might be the problem?
/Joakim

Re: Can't connect Nord Drum 3p with Nord Drum 3 Manager (MAC)
Hi Karax, welcome to the forum!
Sounds strange, you possibly already know, but just to be sure: you should connect both IN and OUT to the MIDI interface, the OUT should be connected to the IN of the interface, and the IN to the OUT, always good to check if the MIDI cables are ok. Not sure what else it could be..

Re: Can't connect Nord Drum 3p with Nord Drum 3 Manager (MAC)
I'm having the same problem. MIDI is working fine with other applications. But the Nord Drum 3 Manager doesn't see the device in the setup list.
I'm running Manager 1.26 and Mac OS 10.14.6.

Re: Can't connect Nord Drum 3p with Nord Drum 3 Manager (MAC)
Hi Eric,
Karax tried another MIDI interface and that one did show up in the manager application, (but it still didn't work, because the 3p wasn't detected)..
Strange that it isn't listed while other applications do seem to connect to your MIDI interface normally, perhaps something to do with the compatibility with that Mac OS, or MIDI or device settings on your Mac. Unless someone else here can shed some light on this, perhaps best to ask for support via the Nord website.
Cheers,
Albert

Re: Can't connect Nord Drum 3p with Nord Drum 3 Manager (MAC)
New forum member here--searched the archives and read a few threads but nothing recent or relevant to issues I'm having. Wonder if anyone else has had some similar problems. I'm trying to use the Drum Manager software with my 3p. Would like to put some sounds into the 4 open banks. Using Nord Drum Manager v1.26, 3p firmware is at 1.24 (so I believe I'm current on all that). Purchased a class compliant mio iconnect interface and my Mac is running 11.5.2 (Big Sur).
I checked some of the usual issues--my cable is properly connected (cable "in" to 3p "out", cable "out" to 3p "in"). Despite many hours of frustration, I am still unable to get Drum Manager to see the interface--it does show up in the OS's Midi Studio as active/available but there's nothing showing the mio when I get to Drum Manager and no feedback except for the endless "No reply from drum. Please check midi setup" messages.
Can anyone shed any light on what this? I love the 3p but without the ability to actually load sounds into the 50% of the banks that are available its value is pretty diminished.
Thanks! Mark

Re: Can't connect Nord Drum 3p with Nord Drum 3 Manager (MAC)
Hi markdrumz, welcome to the forum!
I found another topic on the forum that I thought is quite similar, so I decided to merge yours with that thread. Some mac users are having similar issues with the Nord drum manager, or perhaps with specific MIDI interfaces. Even if the software sees the interface, it doesn't recognize the 3p. I think it's best to report this issue through the Nord website, unless someone here has found a solution in the mean time...
Cheers,
Albert

Re: Can't connect Nord Drum 3p with Nord Drum 3 Manager (MAC)
Not having any joy seeing any of my interfaces. Roland UM1 , SSL 2+ and others
I'm not that fussed about using it, but there is no Dump bank or Dump all options which seems like a bad choice, because then yr 100% reliant on the manager app working
I've read a few threads here but with no joy in resolving my issue. My interfaces show up in Macs native midi manager and in SysEx Librarian, in fact the Nord Manager will actually see that app as an input, but alas none of my midi interfaces.
Using Mac mini 2018 with 12.4.
Any assistance or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers , Chris

Re: Can't connect Nord Drum 3p with Nord Drum 3 Manager (MAC)
Hi h4ndcrafted,
I decided to merge your topic with the existing thread about this problem..
I wish I could help you, I don't have a Mac, on Google all I can find is the advice to install the drivers from the manufacturer itself, and Apple's instructions on how to scan for devices when it isn't recognized at all..
Hopefully someone who has got it working will chime in...but if everything points to the Manager software, maybe try to contact Nord through their website, maybe the app needs an update, or perhaps some additional instructions from them could be helpful..
Cheers,
Albert

Re: Can't connect Nord Drum 3p with Nord Drum 3 Manager (MAC)
I'm having the same issue - also on MacOS (13.4) and also using Roland UM-ONE USB MIDI controller (which I feel like is the industry standard.) Like previous users, I'm able to connect to the 3P using SysEx, but the Nord Drum Manager software (v1.28) doesn't recognize the device or MIDI adapter. I will file a support ticket and report back, but I'm just curious if anyone here has had any luck?
Wondering if this is related to Mac Silicon machines vs older Intel chip - it seems to have popped up when the M1 chip first started being used. In this case, the Nord Drum Manager software requires a compatibility update from Nord.
FWIW - I found that generally, the UM-ONE toggle that is supposed to be for Computer -> Tablet is more of a PC -> Mac switch. The recent version(s) of MacOS requires the UM-ONE to be in "Tablet" mode to work with a Mac. Unfortunately, changing modes doesn't fix this issue.
