drum3p midi

Post by sofrito95 »

hey everyone :)

I'm using ableton as a sequencer for the 3p.
I was receiving multiple midi messages at the same time that played a bunch of random notes, but I think I figured it out now.

the sensitivity was set to 20 which I think is a big issue for the machine?
also I I set the each channel to 1 - 6 on the midi page on the nord now which makes sense to line up with ableton (don't think they were before for some reason - I might have altered this though hehe :P )

one strange thing is the Nord Drum 3 Manager isn't connecting - "no reply from drum check setup"

I'm using Focusrite Saffire 14, have tried with m-audio projectmix and an mbox2 but neither connect either. is there something I'm missing?

hope everyone is well & looking forward to getting these beautiful sounds running !!

also I'd like to use my ableton push or MPC to trigger the each channel in the same way a drum track / program would.

is it possible to have say C1, C#1, D, D#1, E, & F control them on one MIDI track from ableton?

I currently have it set up to 1 midi track per nord channel

Hi sofrito95, welcome to the forum!

The way to address the 6 drum sounds of the 3p using 6 different notes on one MIDI track is to set the track output MIDI channel to the same as the General MIDI channel on the 3p. The default MIDI channel for this is 10, you can check and adjust this in the MIDI menu [G.10]. The notes to be used are also set in the MIDI menu ([nt.60] etc.) for each drum sound (drum channel).

Make sure none of the Individual MIDI channels [Ch.X] is the same as the General MIDI channel [G.Y].

Cheers,
Albert
