Oh, incase I wasn't clear.. I'm not after motorised drawbars or anything like it... you should at least hear what is going on after a while anyway without any more visual aid than what is already provided.. and I understand that it would have to be a catch/latch system.. IE if the physical position of a draw bar is on 8 but the sound itself has that drawbar on say 3.. you would have to push in the physical drawbar to 3 to get it to catch.. just as is now but remove the need to hold in the shift key... and unless you hit save, it should revert to initial preset setting when you next recall the preset ....

I like that with one caveat - make it user selectable whether the faders have to hit the preset value before they alter the sound or not - imagine this situation, you choose a preset that is 888000000 and your drawbars are at 888111111 (just go with me here) and you hit a big swell, pull out all the drawbars and... nothing.. I can completely understand this behavior with digital encoders instead of pots for knob controls, and I quite like it w/r/t an analog synth - when i touch the filter cutoff knob, I don't want a jarring filter squelch, but when you're talking something like drawbars which have a definite shape and immediacy to them, personally i don't want that behavior.. so, make it a setting! other synth makers do with their encoders, so it shouldn't be that difficult, assuming it's even possible..

Far out - this seems like a gross oversight. Hope it gets sorted.

Updated impression of C2D - a near-fatal flaw

Postby flmc59 » 27 Jun 2012, 13:38

I can se one use case where you do not want the drawbars to be active on the preset.
You select a preset and whilst using it you want to prepare the drawbars with two new settings without them "contaminating" the current preset sound that you are using.

This is how I play most of the time.
But since we are talking about a Software system it could be a user settting.

"When you pull up a preset on the C2D, you cannot tweak that preset using the drawbars unless you hold down the selected Preset key in the panel to the left of the manual."

Why on earth? Having the drawbars to immediately tweak a setting is the whole idea. I don't get it, at all.

Remember, if you upgrade your C2 to C2D specs (free at Nord) you get "everything but the drawbars".

The C2 does that, doesn't it, with the "preview" function? BTW, I remember a crazy poster on this forum who got all worked up about these very potential bugs before the C2D was out. Evrybody said he was nuts, but apparently this dis-connection between the physical drawbars and the settings can bother some people.
Which, of course, doesn't in any way invalidate the fact of that particular poster's mental defeciencies, which are manifold, legion, even. I should know.

Updated impression of C2D - a near-fatal flaw

Postby flmc59 » 11 Jul 2012, 01:04

When I play my C1 or C2 is usually preset my live 1 before a song. Then I will start to change them as i play.
The c1 c2 live "presets" on the other do not revert to the old state. They stay as you left them.

When i play the c2d i have a couple of presets that i know work. The rest is done on the fly with the drawbars. Ehen you have two you can preplan a lot.
I m o you could take away the presets an still be able to work the organ quite well with the two sets per manual. (i stilm want the presets).
A preset only organ would not work as well.

Drawbars, the position of which you can feel with your fingers. And to many people, that means more than any combination of LED lights and presets. I gotta say again, I think it's great that Nord let's you get either system with the same sound, on two-manual organs pretty close in price. It's amazing.

Maybe I ask a silly question, but does this mean that this «flaw» will appear in my C2 if I upgrade to the operating system 2.0 ?

Thanks for helping
