Question about Nord C2 Organ Legs Stand?

Postby Westside Ryan » 28 Sep 2013, 23:30

I just received my Nord C2 stand (my C2D doesn't get here until Tuesday), and I've got a question. What's the deal with the two long pieces of padding that go on top of the ends of the stand? In every picture of a C2 on this stand that I've seen, the organ sits in-between the ends and not on top. Seems to me that thinner pieces of padding to go on the insides of each stand end (to protect the wood sides of the C2) would make more sense? Maybe I am missing something?
Thanks,
Ryan

There's a leaflet with the stand that explains this: The actual picture shows the padded strip on the top face of the end bars, but if you read the words (in some sort of chinese/swedish english) you will see they propose the option of cutting the pieces to fit on the inside faces of the end bars to stop the wooden sides of the organ from becoming scratched. That's what I did with my stand that arrives only a couple of days ago. I have no idea why they thonk you'd want the padding on the top unless you're using the stand for something else entirely.

The piece of paper that came with my stand instructs you (with pictures, no words) to put the long padding strips (A) on the top of the ends. That's why I asked, because it didn't make sense to me! Thanks for the info!

Odd that there's two versions of that leaflet - mine has the picture as you describe, but then the words at the bottom telling you to stick them on the sides if you want to protect the instrument's end-cheeks. Maybe they did it wrong and reprinted it with the message instead of drawing a new diagram ...

does seem odd, but there aren't any written directions (words). I have another stand coming in a day or two. I'll check out those instructions to see if they are different! Not that it matters, but now I am interested.

Yup, the directions with the new stand are as you described.

So I guess they drew the picture wrong and added the text to save having to draw it again. Next thing, there'll be an urban myth about a 6-octave version of the C2 that sits on top of the stand... .

Or, come to think of it, a C3 that has the octave of presets like a proper B3. That makes way more sense.
