Nord C2D with a DAW...Questions! Please help!!
I am a total nube when it comes to using DAW's and Midi. I used the USB port on my C2D to connect to my MacBook Pro. I then opened Logic Pro X and even tried Ableton Live 10. However, I can't get neither to record what I play on the C2D. I have gone into preferences on each DAW and made sure the correct MIDI channels are selected and I have read the Nord C2D Manuel and selected what I thought are the correct settings under the System Menu for MIDI. Neither DAW is picking up the MIDI signal. I don't think I need an interface, do I?
Anyone knows of a tutorial for this, specific to using Nord C2D with a DAW?

Re: Nord C2D with a DAW...Questions! Please help!!
The Nord boards doesn't function as a sound interface - the USB port is only for updating SW and transmitting programs and sound sample files.
So the only way to get the sound into the DAW is to use the sound output jacks on the C2D and put them into some kind of sound interface that connects to the MacBook.
Do You have any sound interface connected to record voice, guitar, etc?

Yes I have a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 USB2 Audio Interface. Stupid me thought I didn't need it. It's setup with my iMac and Korg in another room. Can I use a Yamaha MD-BT01 Bluetooth Wireless MIDI Interface and plug it into the C2D? My computer would then connect wirelessly to the Bluetooth. If so, I can get one from a friend. Or the only way to get the sound to the DAW is by using my Scarlett?

If you originally planned to connect it via USB hand assuming it is better to have the computer next to the organ when recording) , you can just buy a USB MIDI interface (cable) instead of the bluetooth one, which otoh may have difficulties to work properly if the two rooms are not close enough or with too many "obstacles" (walls).

What is it You want to record though - MIDI notes or actual sound form the C2D?

I might be using the incorrect terms because I am totally new to this. I want what I play on the Nord to be recorded in its own track in a DAW. I want to be able to do all things the DAW software is capable of doing to the recording such as effects, transpose, etc. I want the track to be part of the final professional mix of the song. Isn't that MIDI notes?

Ok I will bring the MacBook next to the Nord C2D. Then I can use a cable that connects to the MIDI port on the Nord C2D and the USB on the computer? And no interface unit is needed?
Sorry if my questions are elementary but I don't know the basic stuff yet.

OK, it sounds like You want to record the C2D sounds as You play them.
Let's take this from the beginning...
Then You'd want to connect the C2D output Left/Right jacks into some kind of sound interface, which is then connected to the computer by USB or Firewire or something, where the DAW records them.
A sound interface can look something like this:
The 2 cables coming from C2D output Left/Right would connect to the channel 1 and 2 as seen in the top picture above, and (assuming the sound interface is installed correctly) the DAW will then be able to recognize them and allow You to record them in combination as a stereo track into a song.
The sound interface would also probably be connected to some kind of speaker system via the Line Outputs on the back panel so that You can hear the song playback while recording. Or if You'd listen through headphones connected to the sound interface.
MIDI is something else completely. MIDI is digital registrations of which keys were pressed at what time, how hard, etc. But there are no actual sounds saved in MIDI. It's like saving very detailed sheet music, but not the sounds.
This is useful if playing for example SW synths inside the DAW, where the C2D could function as a pure keyboard without using any of the sounds actually produced by the C2D (probably with the volume off on the C2D).
MIDI can also be useful for post-recording tweaking, since the notes, timing and key acceleration can be edited afterwards, and then re-fed into the C2D as if there was a ghost player playing everything again, but edited into perfection, and the sounds coming out of the C2D again recorded into the DAW, but now flawless.
I don't think the C2D can transmit MIDI via USB (unless I found an outdated version of the manual). You'd need to use the dedicated MIDI output, which would probably also be connected via a sound interface, as can be seen on the back panel of the example above.
But judging from Your questions I don't think recording MIDI is what You're after at this point.
Go for just recording the actual C2D sounds first. Play with MIDI possibilities later.

Thank You!!!! Wow I needed that explanation! You are a God-send. Are you saying since I won't be recording MIDI all those wonderful editing features the DAW offers will not be possible? Is it possible to capture both MIDI and sound?

If you connect your instrument with the audio interface with audio-cables AND midi-cable, you can catch both midi and audio.
