How to connect effect pedals to C2D

Postby steffenstaugaard » 24 Jan 2020, 12:54

Hi !
Question – how to connect effectpedals to the organ when using the Leslie Cable directly.

I have my C2D connected to my Leslie HL-822 directly with the 11-pin cable.

Sometimes I need more overdrive or other effects on the organ.

Is there a way to connect/activate effectpedals when I have the organ connected this way.
I don´t use or have a Leslie pre-amp.

In this video I can see that the organ is mounted with both the 11-pin cable and the stereo outputjacks ?

If you desire a more robust 'classic tube' type sound than you are hearing from the HL822 it must be done to the Leslie because of no FX inserts/loop on the C2D.
I'm lucky here in Canada where there were plenty of tube type boxes to mate up with the C2D,I take advantage of the built in speaker level 1/4" out socket.
In your case, apologies if you have already researched your Roto-Sonic mid driver x-over point ; you'll realize this theatre style tremelo is an aquired taste and not a lower rotating
drum that carries all the way down, not scooped out at 160HH like an HL822.Again you might like this,I don't and prefer the way my 122/147/251/222 /760 work.
There is a solution for you people who want to get those HZ out of the mid driver and into the 15" woofer. It's made by TrekII in USA by Micheal Smokowitz.Part # LCO-1.
Look it up on the website. Also there are tube mods for those amp modules, used on 760's that might just interface the same with HL822 amps.

As for my HL822,the lower deck will get a reclaimed 760 drum and plate.Michael will make me an LCO-8 version to make it a true 760 with 11 pins, like the newer 971!
I also would like the convenience of the C2D controls, but these tube boxes are hard to say no to compared to an HL822. I'm sure these solutions have been around for thirty
years, converting 2 channel Roto Sonics into a quasi traditional one channel box with 15"" lower rotor. You don't want to blow up that 6X9" oval,it's balanced and too much work
converting the inertia of a heavier speaker ramp up/down time. You'll at least get that box 'close' with the mod and it will bark more than it does now!

Hope this helps,happy Hammond cloning!
