Re: C2D through Leslie 145 - 'Stop' mode functionality help

Wow...nice set up! very well thought out. Talk about some serious MacGivering!! Are those connector boxes your doing? I might be going down that road soon with a 122 that's on my radar. Wish you lived in my neighborhood... id be paying handsomely for your for your ingenuity!
I just added a simple piggyback plug lamp cord switch to to the slow power line to hold me over for the time being. My upper rotor stops immediately but the lower takes about 12 seconds...its actually quite a subtle transition.
By the way ...is your 122 delivering all of your bass needs? Or do you send your low end to another bass rig ?

Sure appreciate seeing your set-up

The connector box and 1/2" compression connector were bought at a local hardware store. I bought the stainless cover on-line.

If you want the drum to stop quicker then you need a brake. Some people like the coast instead.

It depends. For rehearsal and organ jazz gigs, the bass from the 122 is fine. For the funk band I run MIDI out of the lower manual bottom split into a 90's bass module and then into a bass amp and/or FOH.

Cool, same here with the midi send from the lower manual . I created a bass sound on a Roland Integra 7 assigned to the lower manual split up to the 3rd F#, the bass output is sent separately to a little 12" Bergantino Rig. (endless Bass) Next to its EP or clav from the same Integra to the house and monitors. My swell pedal doubles as a wah wah . Cant do that on an old Hammond :{>

Did you come up as an Organist first or are you like me? pianos , synths and clone wheels for 40 years with dreams of being a real organ player. The C2D has gotten me closer to this then i ever imagined. what a great instrument. I own 2. I had a mojo for about a month. The tones were spot on but the rotary sim and the Windows platform were the deal breaker. A real vintage Hammond and 122 will be my main tools of choice before I check out. Nothing like the real thing !

Thanks again for the response!

The 1/4" high level out of the C2D is comparable to a stock 5 pin outlet on a console like a B3/C3/A100.All my interfaces are 1/4" and stock Amphenol 5-6 pin/socket old school builds.
Was never satisfied with the gain of 'ampless' (B3/C3) compared to the A100.Some don't like the extra gain, still not enough for me though.I want that bugger to scream! That's why I tap off the
common of the 'verb dial, and get both amps to drive the 122/147 instead of just one or two,and use all three. This amp goes to 11.Has been hooked up that way since 1995 no problems, blown drivers never happen, can pull all 8's without fear! And kept up to one of Canada's most heard tunes (Mama Let Him Play)with his sidekicks, who were never 'quiet'!
That organ is from a Toronto studio and is on many records you have heard ;>).
By comparison the other rigs just don't have the headroom needed to really rock with a tube Leslie. The 760 is just too hard edged for classic rock IMO,make great funk R&B boxes though!
A Leslie 3300 modern box is some people's favorite, already have 3 760's,don't need one.760's can be repaired with off the shelf parts, much to Hammond's dismay...
It's all about what signal you send to a 122/147/251,or a 760,860,330,3300 whatever....971. Bass, you want some bass? I can manage that.Pantleg flappers,a row of them.
A 'homemade' L100 amp from a Porta-B already has twin 122 outlets,a verb channel,will drive a 122/147/251 WAY harder than a stock C2D. The 6BQ5 tubes really kick hard.(Fender Blues Jr)....
Yet to gig it but it sure works great in trials!Yes,those are five different boxes..... ;>) Have another eight to keep them company.

The C2D is an adequate substitute, will never replace the real deal though.

hallelujah !!! IM ALL IN !!
that's some impressive keyboard porn right there!!....Haven't been able to stop looking!.....I cant even imagine how awesome that ensemble must sound . I mostly play wineries and supper clubs . Cant get my little 44w to even slightly growl without dirty looks from table 6. Sad to say I use the rotary sim on many gigs. You must have a couple techs on the payroll with that hardware ...? Do you do your amp mods yourself...? I would love to duplicate your 122/ C2D method of connection, but my electrical chops are not up to par. Wondering what resources helped you to engineer your multiple set-ups?

again thanks ....my head is spinning ...in a good way

The old Electro2-61 has an excellent A100 model for it's organ engine. When comparison testing, the toys at my disposal to do a proper 'shoot out' are many.
Loving the C2D organ way more than the Stage3,the Stage EX organ was also the Electro2 "A100".Happy to have a C2D,wish the Stage3 B3 was more like the Electro2.

44W is a great sounding box,in spite of the one speed/no chorale issue.Have only played one 'conversion' utilizing an 'AC' motor controller to get chorale.
The inertia or ramp times were all over the place. Here is a 44W with a 760 stuffed in it.Loudest shorty in the herd, currently an M3 hanging off it,has the 1' foldback.
The Electro sits nicely on top,and plugs right in to the RCA as a 'third manual'.
My Leslies are from 1963-1983. >;).The Hammonds are from 1937-1965.(OK,I snuck a Canadian built T212 in there from '70).
And the '68 L100 amp with double 122 hookups! That B2 is a 'smooth drawbar' later one,has a TrekII TP2-B and TrekII line out.Liking it more than the '73 B3 once owned.

Yes,a router will carefully peel back just enough wood to mount the lower stack above, inside the bass chamber of a 44W.And the upper motor cover comes off,a stack hangs there!
Some folks install a brand new baffle, these old hardwood plywood types sound different than MDF!
Valhalla replacements are hardwood, that's a good thing.'70 and newer Leslies have MDF.
My single motor conversions all have two motor stacks. No compromises here.Almost a direct 'drop in',the 760 is still a great Leslie IMO,seems to like it's new home.
Had to finesse the tensioner to get silent speed changes.Side mounted single motor models have a smaller diameter belt, maybe 2cm.Used an older stretched out belt, works fine.
Will eventually stuff an 11 pin amp and power supply in there, the 760 works excellent in the mean time. The C2D doesn't seem to mind.

All three shorties here have hardwood baffles. That makes them all 1969 or older. Also have a converted 122 with a 760 in it,satin black. The '63 A100 loves that box!

Man that's quiet a collection! You should write a book on this stuff. Or at least a YouTube channel. Is that a 414 solid state cover on the bottom back of that 44w ? My first leslie was a 11 pin rotosonic 414 and that was 23 years ago. Great for home studio. I just picked up 2 more 44's from a Church organ supply warehouse whose owner recently passed. One of them near perfect.. I'm just in love with sound of that box in combo with the C2D and a bass rig. The tube warmth is the MOJO! I'm dying to get back to the bandstand and use these things ... everything has come to a screeching halt here in CA. Heck its still too soon to call a rehearsal.. The scary part is ...i don't see anything starting up again for quite a while. I would imagine your feeling it! By the look of those pics.....left hand bass and pulling drawbars is your day job! Any shelter in place orders in Canada?
