Do an A/B of a M and L of the same piano then tell me how much difference you will hear, in normal pop/funky playing

Re: White Grand?
White Grand... so my first impressions.
Quite aggressively mic'd a bit like the Studio Grand 1 was.
Its a bit like Italian Grand, on Steriods (Which would kind of make sense as the Stw B and the F228 are similar in size in the 7ft ish range)
Its very expressive, powerful sounding and sounds fantastic when you dig in.
I can imagine it will cut well in a mix.
Really liking it so far, its replaced my Bright Grand and is here to stay

Re: White Grand?
Now I've tried it.
I think the jury's still out on this one.
It's a little muddy in the low end, but beautifully shiny in the high end.
Painful to fit it in...
I replaced the 3D that I anyways only use through headphones.
Also took down the Bösendorfer to Large to make room. I anyways always gravitate towards the Silver grand when playing with people.
That actually left some spare room after the White moved in, so the Amber upright got the XL, which was a big improvement for that one.
I guess we'll see if it gets any playing time, or if I'll miss the Bösen XL or the 3D more.
Not completely sold so far...

Re: White Grand?
I did my 1st gig with the White Grand XL last night. I just love it. A whole new clarity and playability and a great tone. A real instrument.
Thanks Nord for my new Free favourite AP.

Re: White Grand?
I also find that it works really well, and also nicely in mono -- even over less than stellar amplification (sorry, @cphollis ).
I played some gospel-style stuff today in a live setting, where I would normally use the Silver (that's about the only thing I use the Silver for), but the White Grand was sitting better in the mix, and sounded more "natural" to me. When playing more laid-back, with more "air" in the mix and a lot of room for the piano, it also sounded beautiful
Very much a keeper, and as others, I also appreciate the fact that Nord puts a lot of effort into creating this for us -- at no additional cost (from our side)!

Re: White Grand?
Yah well, I'm going to simply confirm what others have said. It's a go to sample. No hesitation. More better than what has come before. Those of you with adequate hardware, suck it up and enjoy
I think I have gear issues ....

Re: White Grand?
Another key factor is that we can finally stop reading about how great the Royal Grand 3D is. That thing was the the flagship for way too long. I know some will loyally keep it on their board but I'm guessing its usage will drop off exponentially. Like the amped samples, it was a sonic experiment that was much celebrated but whose technology is not being continued.

Re: White Grand?
I still like the tone of the 3D Also, for rehearsing with cans or in-ears it's pretty cool too.
