Re: White Grand?
Less gear to bring to a gig, and/or everyone in the venue hears the same thing no matter where they are, and/or the house system is mono.

on a side note, from shuffling my pianos around to get this XL beauty on board, I also just rediscovered how much I love the bambino Spinet.
thanks Nord
Funny, me too! For my 1 mb Electro 5 I’ve boiled my acoustic piano palette down to 7- three grands (White XL and Silver and Velvet L) and 4 uprights (Amber XL and Bambino, Rain, and Honkytonk M).
Thanks, Nord

Re: White Grand?
Advantages for mono: (1) I own one EV powered speaker, don't want to buy or lug another one, (2) out of lines for my mixing board and/or multitrack recorder, (3) a lot of audience members who hear us play at a bar are definitely hearing sound from only one of the FOH speakers, because of the room geometry and/or where they are sitting.

... recorded in MONO by the way...
Thanks for pointing out that recording in mono to listen to - I certainly did not hear anything that "was not working" in that clip, The octave from middle C going down is where many of the Nord AP sounds have failed for me. Here is a song which hits that octave a lot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVM9NHAFMFg (bit of a shameless plug). This is NOT a Nord AP sound, but from some inferior old sound module hidden under the papers above, and above my Electro. Its AP sound, while pathetic standalone, fits in a mix with a 7 piece band. There is a lot going on in this song - the rhythm guitarist pounds on that ostinato while I play chords syncopated against it. With the "Pips" singing background vocals and the bass line, there is little musical space left, and the piano needs to get heard without throwing a blanket over everything else. Mono.

Re: White Grand?
I haven't figured out how to make room to even test this thing...
I'd have to remove several pianos to make room for it, and after having found the favourites once it just hurts too much to remove and re-connect programs.
At some point I'll muster the courage to change and try it, but the threshold right now is very high...

Re: White Grand?
I wonder what others on the list here think, but for my money, this piano is a whole other level of playability and sound quality over the other options. I'd say erase 'em all and start from scratch with the XL White Grand. As of now, I'm not as interested in the other grands as much as I am having fun rediscovering the various uprights.

Re: White Grand?
it’s a killer on my NS2EX-88 using the XL file. It immediately became my number 1 grand piano, followed by the silver grand. Really great work Nord

Re: White Grand?
Yeah, game changer in my world as well. Through good amplification it's amazing.
Sort of like buying a new board, except -- well -- it was a free download. Over on Keyboard Corner (the other major keys forum) a lot of folks are taking notice.

I think I have gear issues ....

Re: White Grand?
I am absolutely in love with my Nord Piano, and I'm having a blast with the White Grand.
I am a home musician with limited space and money, but last Christmas I decided to splurge and buy myself a Nord Piano 4 to replace my old Yamaha P140.
When I was younger, I use to have an old spinet, but due to lack of regular tuning and maintenance, I ended up having to get rid of it as it would have been too costly to fix. Since then, I have been craving a really good acoustic piano sound, and I've been less than satisfied with the pianos on other keyboards/synth modules.
The Piano 4 is awesome. I love being able to add, replace and experiment with different sounds. I am very impressed with both the grands and uprights. I currently have XL's of the White Grand, the Italian Grand and the Amber Upright as my main pianos. I now feel like I have something almost as good as the real thing, especially with the White Grand.
If the folks at Nord are reading this forum, I just want to say, thanks for making an excellent product!
