This is the right place if your topic concerns different Nord Keyboards, you are not sure which one is the right one for you, etc.

Round-robin is a pure SW thing, doesn't need any special HW (to respond to that question) and in your comparison you are mixing DSPs (like the Motorola used by Nord and the custom ones used by Yamaha, for example) with ARM (which is instead a microprocessor/microcontroller and btw also Nord has a microcontroller the architecture).

If you like schematics, there is one of the Nord Electro 2 you can easily find on the web and also here Nord Electro 2 Service Manual and Schematics where you can see the basic Nord keyboards architecture, though DSP and microcontrollers of course have changed in type and number across years/models.

Nord is uses 5 Analog Devices ADSP-21489’s in the stage 3.

I’d be willing to bet the NS4 is configured very similarly, and the Piano 5 is some subset of that.

Why do we have two (or more, maybe) DSP/which processor/etc. threads? Can we combine them, please?

Merged!

Ehm... the post from davisjj to which I replied with the one at the top of this page is missing (otherwise it is unclear why I mention "round robin" there); I would have added it as a quote but of course the original thread is no longer available ;)
:thanks:

Thanks all! The electrical engineer in me is embarrassed for not being more clear and mixing DSP and Microprocessor/CPU. It’s been a long week. Lol. This is all great info and much appreciated! I’m fascinated by how it all works.

No posts were deleted as far as I know. Isn't the post you refer to appearing earlier? (they are chronologically sorted) in the merged version. You can edit your post to point to which other post you are replying to if you feel that it is necessary.

Edit: now I am not sure what the merge has done!

It was in the other thread that has been merged to this one, nevermind

Hm.. maybe it matters the point that whcih the merge is chosen from and the previous messages get deleted? If so, I am sorry I was not aware of it and I do not see a way of undoing it.

Yes I guess that's how it works, anyway as I said, nevermind :-)
