Where to buy Used Nord Stage 3
Where to buy Used Nord Stage 3
I was wondering if anyone's selling a Stage 3.
Every listing on craigslist has turned out to be a scam unfortunately, which really sucks because I just sold my Korg SV2 for a fair bit under market value to be able to buy one of the seemingly reasonably priced Nords on Craigslist.
Now I don't have a keyboard anymore, I lost money on the whole transaction, and can't get a new keyboard, which really really sucks for me.
Let me know if you know anyone trying to part with a Nord. I probably won't be able to afford it anyway, as all the ones on Craigslist are listed around $1800-2000, so that's what I budgeted for when selling my Korg.

I don't think you will find a Stage 3 for those prices (If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is). The Stage 2 goes for $2500-$3000 used on Reverb. The Stage 3 is about $1000 more than the Stage 2.
Current rig: Nord Electro SW4, Kurzweil K2500XS, Roland XP-30, Proteus 2000, QSC K8.2, QSC K10.2, Yamaha HS80M, Auratones, Mackie 802-VLZ3, Focusrite Saphire Pro 40, MOTU MicroLite, Samsung Servo 120a, Sony MDR 7506 & MDR 7509HD, Sennheiser HD-650

That's a shame. I'm kinda stuck then.JohnT wrote:I don't think you will find a Stage 3 for those prices (If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is). The Stage 2 goes for $2500-$3000 used on Reverb. The Stage 3 is about $1000 more than the Stage 2.
I got so caught up in the excitement of how good all the deals were on craigslist my decision making never kicked in.
Here's to hoping I find any decent keyboard for what I sold my Korg for. It's only been a few days and I already miss playing.

I would be very careful with those. $1300 and $1350, both in Las Vegas and both worth over $3000 elsewhere!

Yes, that is why I removed the post, they were for Stage 2 not Stage 3. You can tell immediately who the scammers are by their responses.JohnT wrote:I would be very careful with those. $1300 and $1350, both in Las Vegas and both worth over $3000 elsewhere!

If you can't afford the extra expense to get a NS3, you could search for a NS2, which is still a little over your price range stated. Perhaps a used Nord Electro of some variation, or consider a Yamaha CP or YC instrument.
Nords: NE2, NS2 88, NS3 Compact x 2
Live rig: NS3, Vent, Radial KL-8, Shure PSM-900 IEM Rig, UE18 & UE7 IEMs.
Studio: Hammond A-101 & Leslie 122, Yamaha CP-80, Yamaha S90, NS2, DSI Prophet-6, Vent II, Roland JX-8P.

Craigslist has scams using the same "home" pictures in quite a few cities.

Re: Where to buy Used Nord Stage 3
I'm probably selling my NS3 Compact... but that won't help you because, like the others you've seen, it's not going to be in the price range you want to look in. So the question then is, since you budgeted $1800-$2000 and you need to find something, what are the most important criteria for you?
Is hammer action (like the SV2 you sold) a must?
Is getting a drawbar-controllable organ a priority?
Is getting a virtual analog synth with real-time knob controls a priority?
Are there certain split/layer or other capabilities you'd really like to have?
While you're not going to get all the NS3 features out of something in your price range, once you prioritize what's most important, we could see what might come closest for you.
