Obviously, that depends upon the kind of sound you want.

A Rhodes through a Twin is going to sound different than through a JC120 than DI, and which you will use depend upon what the production calls for.

Yes, totally right. The only thing i wanted to say is, that using a guitar amp is not the only way to sound good with a Rhodes. I play my Mk2 with a Roland JC120 and love how it sounds, but sometimes i go straight into DI and it sounds great too!

Personally speaking I'm not satisfied about nord Ep and wurli. I'm thinking about use vst (like pianoteq) with tablet or little notebook to have more details and dinamic. My nuisance is way nord put out so much and detailed AP and so few and poor EP

Yes poor
Not detailed, not dinamic. I invite you to try some vst and compare it with nord ep and wurli.
That doesn't mean that they are not good, but again a lot of detail are lost and the dinamics have little influence on sound. That's my point of view.

Too easy to say if the comparison is done with VSTis (maybe with > 1GB samples...), it would be fair to compare within the hardware digital pianos world. I use also VSTs at home and of course they are more detailed and tweakeable, but for playing live (particularly in a band situation) I find the Nord very playable and expressive (including dinamics control, see for example how EP1 changes from soft bell-like sound at low velocities to barking at high ones, maybe you need to check your keyboard dynamics settings or playing style? On NS2 I use Dynamics = 2 on all EPs and sometimes 3 on Wurly).

What maxpiano says... Are you comparing to the real thing, or just to some VSTis? That might be the issue.
Have you tried using the different dynamics settings? I cannot believe the claim that there are no dynamics in ANY of the EP samples. The Ballad ones are *very* dynamic.

today there are also hardware, like crumar seven, that are more detailed. Or vst like pianoteq or reed200 for example that are few Mb (and not gigabyte) that are Rich of detail and dinamic. Nord sample are far from this and I think that they should do better then current.

Compared to sampling, there aren't so many people/companies in the world who can do successful piano or EP modeling, and those that do may have patents on what they're doing. I would not assume that Nord has the ability to take that approach.
