I say don't get rid of any, but would always love to see more. Maybe something experimental like the "Giant" that many use as a VST. Would also love to have a pitch bend and mod on the electro as welll as a filter cutoff in the synth. All those things aside, I still love the sound and feel way better than anything else on the market.

Lew, I am in the UK and have had 2x Kurzweils over the last 6 years or so, both from gear4music at York and delivered next day (with free return option within a week). They have most models folks would want from the Kurz range so I wouldnt say they are THAT hard to get hold of. They will happily fetch one out of the warehouse and set it up to demo if you visit their showroom too.

Back on topic

I dont see any need to retire the old samples. Some of them are still quite good in their own right and more choice is always better as long as new stuff keeps drifting through regularly to keep things current and the library idea relevant.

What could be a new idea is for Nord to start off a new wave of XXL samples, starting with a new killer piano. I would happily allow a 300/400/500mb chunk out of my 2gb memory for a new killer sample that would rival some of the VSTs :D

SO - I say clean up the library, keep the best, move the bottom third to an archive section, and let's get some new, large samples in there. It's almost 2019, we haven't had a Grand or Rhodes in two years.

It does seem there is more Nord could be doing here. The newest Electro and Stage models have much bigger piano memory banks, and you would think that larger, newer piano sounds could be created that would sound better, and which could help drive sales of those newest models. I have an old Electro 3, so I would not be able to enjoy newer acoustic piano samples which were significantly larger than what exists today, but maybe that would be exactly the motivation for Nord to create these.

As part of this I would like to see one acoustic piano sound which is purely optimized for mono in a gigging covers band - not for the best sound in a 3 piece trio, where your AP sound is the world - but where you are trying to get your AP sound heard alongside 8 other voices and instruments without getting in the way. In the old Motown studio in the 1960s, they made them listen to mixes on (not that expensive) home stereo equipment, to make sure the LP would sound good to listeners in their homes. I would suggest the Nord engineer who creates this mono acoustic piano sound listen to it with just one speaker, and make it sound right with that. Let Nord "out-Roland" Roland.

Don't presume that everybody plays the same way you do, plays or enjoys the same music you do, or are looking for the same things in an instrument as you. Don't even assume that everyone who participates in the forum adequately represents all the users of Nord instruments.

Just because you do not like a particular piano sample, consider it outdated or inappropriate for your own use, it does not mean it has no value to anyone.

Gambold, even in your re-emergence, you have a lot of negativity about the way Nord chooses to do their business. I get it - you don't like the piano sample library. If you are not happy with the product or the company, there are certainly other manufacturers to purchase from.

I don't like participating in these kinds of threads, as I would much rather focus on the positive. I've been playing Nord keyboards for the past 10 years because they have the right mix of features, quality and support that work for ME. I personally don't like the way Korg instruments sound or the user interface on most Yamaha instruments. But I do not go on to Korg or Yamaha forums and complain loudly about them, or sour existing threads with my opinion. These companies are obviously successful without me, and they have many happy customers. That's great.

Please have some respect for those of us who choose to be happy with these instruments. Nord has a business model that works for them, and a wide variety of customers from all skill levels, genres, geographies, etc. There's nothing wrong with having an opinion, but please be aware of the diversity of opinion around you.

There is no contradiction in being happy with Nord products and wanting Clavia to do stuff in e.g. the piano library.
And as this is a discussion forum we can't just sit in silent awe all the time - that'd be boring...

Well, well, well... someone finally hit a nerve. You have been around this community long enough to know exactly what buttons you are pushing.

This community shouldn't have to speculate on your motives. Think about that for a minute.

Let's not argue because all of us want same things. A better Grand, Rhodes, a good mono etc.
We got a new piano every Christmas, so I think that we should asking "No more Uprights" instead! :)
