Yeah, the Stage 4 is boffo, but it's priced so high that it can hardly be called a release for the Nord masses. Not that those masses are huge in number, but...there are a few of us out here. Long-standing Nord users who aren't shopping for a $6000 keyboard.
My vote would be for a new Grand Piano sample. The Pearl kinda came and went like the Uprights usually do - they are fun, maybe useful, but they don't serve as a flagship piano sample. The last one of those was four years ago. It's been a while.
OR, we could see a major overhaul of the Piano library, including the public release of the super-secret Wurlitzer upgrades, the smaller sized White Grand XL, and who knows what else - the library has become something of a game now, with savvy users downloading and extracting specific Piano 5 restore files to get at the newer goodies. This new and improved library could be seasoned with a new signature sound bank that any board can download.
OR, we could really be rocked on our ears and see a completely new, affordable, portable practice Nord, something along the lines of the Yamaha Reface series. An entry-level board for Nord newbies or just a fun toy for old-timers to buy and take on the airplane.
A guy can dream. Sadly, NAMM is only a month away, and we are probably only going to see a Nord booth stuffed with Stage 4s and Julian Pollack demonstrating sound layers.
Still hoping for something for the rest of us at NAMM

Refreshed library would be great but new EP's and maybe some grand pianos that aren't all close mic'd that would be great for solo piano playing.Gambold wrote:

As for NAMM J3PO could be there, but Mike Berel just did a quick video of his Stage 4 received so I imagine he will be there.
Typing this rely I hit the shift key when typing Stage 4 and it came out Stage $ seems rather appropriate considering the new price.

No personal offense intended, but I have a hard time watching Jason Pollack’s demos. His head bobbing makes me a bit nauseous.

Just close your eyes and listen. That is what my friend a classical piano grad' had to do when I took her to a Keith Jarrett concert, as a classically trained musician his gyarations drove her crazy. She calmed down and enjoyed the concert when she closed her eyes and just listened. Julian "J3PO" Pollack isn't a Keith Jarrett but he is definitely worth listening to, I've been a fan since he was just Julian Pollack playing Jazz on acoustic pianos.

What's the 3PO thing? Does he act like him? Is that his favorite Star Wars character? I guess there have to be some fans...

Julian Pollark AKA J3PO started using that name when he got more in the synths and electronic music. Kind of like Jazz pianist Eric Lewis who when he started doing Rock tunes with a Jazz improv flavor added started calling himself ELEW. Different names for different sides of their playing.Gambold wrote:What's the 3PO thing? Does he act like him? Is that his favorite Star Wars character? I guess there have to be some fans...
