This is the right place if your topic concerns different Nord Keyboards, you are not sure which one is the right one for you, etc.

The fleet has gone to Nord keyboards, which are great but pose a problem in downloading sounds. The military network will not connect to the Nord site. We get a message just saying there is an error and to try again later. No other site has this message. Some sites can’t be accessed, but a message will pop up saying we could ask for permission to use the site. This means we can’t download the sound manager or any sounds. Since I personally don’t have a laptop, but do have an iPad Pro it would be helpful to have an iOS version that I could bring to work with me. Is there hope for this on the horizon?

One big problem is that students create custom programs for their projects at the school and then use up storage on the Nord, which is to be expected, but there is no way to do a factory restore for the next class of students. Is there any way to use my iPad Pro to do a factory restore? Even if I have to buy some hardware?
Thanks

As Analogika said, so you'd better get a cheap Windows tablet for now, it will do the job.

If Nord would open up their API, I'd love to write some apps for this!

You should talk to your Sys admin (IT support) there is no reason you shouldn't be able to access the Nord website. The only possible explanation would be miss-configured proxy's or possible geographic network blocks or either some other misconfigured network setting or incorrectly or overly provisioned web content filter.

> That would really help, who wants to take a laptop on the road all the time? not me.<

Hmm, I don't see what difference it makes. "On the road" means, I presume, not on the stage. Anyone who has worked with Sound Manager knows that uploads and modifications take time, and I don't see the rest of the band and the audience waiting while the keyboardist is uploading that sample he forgot, or fiddling with preset configurations. This work all has to be done before the performance. And even if you have lightning fingers and the band is willing to tell jokes to the crowd while you are waiting for some must-have synth sample to load, you're gonna need a decent Internet connection there in your little corner of the stage, and not a lot of venues are going to provide that.

SO, that means that any work "on the road" with Sound Manager is going to take place during downtime - in the hotel room most likely. This goes for Sample Editor too - unless there is anyone reading this thread who live-edits their samples with Sample Editor during a performance, that's all homework.

There are plenty of light laptops out there. Just pack in it with all the other gear. Once you load all your speakers, poles, mixer, keyboards, rack, throne and who knows what else, what's a laptop bag matter?

A 100$ (max, new or used) Win10 tablet with 1 USB OTG port solves the problem and is already available.
(did I already say that? :wtf:  )

Buying a Windows tablet when I’m already an iPad and Mac user creates about sixteen problems for the one it solves.

For most people yes this would be a fantastic solution, but it might not have been clear that LewTheKeysGuy is blind and that the iPad simply has better non-sighted navigation.

@cgrafx: I didn’t catch that, I am sorry, anyway not answering him directly, my post was more addressing the general point about having “the Nord Library available on a tablet” (@analogika: I’d use my Mac for that too, but so far I am OK with preparing all at home, so I need neither on stage)
