Question about the feel Nord Electro 6/Nord Stage 4 compact
Good morning,
I have a question regarding the feel of the Nord Stage 4 Compact compared to the Electro 6D 73 and the Nord Wave 2.
I use the Nord Electro 6D 73 and the Nord Wave 2 and I was surprised by the touch stroke of the Nord Wave 2 compared to the Nord Electro 6D which is "shortened" by the aftertouch and is for me significantly less pleasant to play. play piano and Rhodes sounds with the Nord Wave 2.
So my question is this: are the playing sensations and touch of the Nord Stage 4 compact similar to those of the Nord Electro 6D 73 in terms of action of the mechanics, or is it a little spoiled by the aftertouch like on the Nord Wave 2?
Thank you for your answers.

Re: Question about the feel Nord Electro 6/Nord Stage 4 comp
The Stage Compact action is the same waterfall keys as the Electro 6D, though with aftertouch, the Stage bottoms out a bit more softly than the Electro, with no aftertouch. I've always preferred the feel of the aftertouch in the Stage models vs. the Electro. It just feels a bit more smooth and refined to my fingers. I haven't played a Nord Wave 2, so I don't know if that's the same action.
Nords: NE2, NS2 88, NS3 Compact x 2
Live rig: NS3, Vent, Radial KL-8, Shure PSM-900 IEM Rig, UE18 & UE7 IEMs.
Studio: Hammond A-101 & Leslie 122, Yamaha CP-80, Yamaha S90, NS2, DSI Prophet-6, Vent II, Roland JX-8P.

This seems really interesting to me because I particularly like the Waterfall touch of the Nord Electro 6D, flexible and expressive, excellent sensations whether on pianos, Rhodes and synths.
Will I really find the same feeling on the Nord Stage 4 compact?
Doesn't the fact of the presence of aftertouch on the Nord Stage 4 limit the stroke of pressing the key a little compared to the Nord Electro 6? THANKS.

Re: Question about the feel Nord Electro 6/Nord Stage 4 comp
The NS4 not only has AT, but also a 3rd sensor. This should help when playing piano sounds.
On my NS3, piano doesn't work very well, and EP sounds work so so...
You must be a very good piano player if you are able to play piano on a NW2.

The Nord Wave 2 is really not great for playing the piano while the Nord Electro 6 is really pleasant, it really doesn't have the same feel.
Regarding the feel of the Nord Stage 4 Compact, I would like to know if it is less noisy than that of the Nord Electro 6 or that of the Nord Stage 3 compact.
THANKS

Re: Question about the feel Nord Electro 6/Nord Stage 4 comp
I had the Stage 3 Compact and now the Stage 4 Compact. In my opinion both keybeds are very similar regarding feeling, noise while playing and dynamic response. I also had the Wave 2 for some weeks, its keybed was significantly quieter and somehow smoother. Playing acoustic piano is a compromise with all three of them but doable.Nico38 wrote:Regarding the feel of the Nord Stage 4 Compact, I would like to know if it is less noisy than that of the Nord Electro 6 or that of the Nord Stage 3 compact.

Thank you for your reply. The keyboard of the Nord Wave 2 is therefore less noisy than that of the compact Nord Stage 3/4, I thought it was the opposite, damn.Nordlicht wrote:I had the Stage 3 Compact and now the Stage 4 Compact. Re: Question about the feel Nord Electro 6/Nord Stage 4 comp
However, it may not be impossible that the quality of Fatar keyboards varies and that you therefore find different "extremes" even with one model. For example, I had a very inhomogeneous keyboard with several "clunky" keys on my first Piano 5 88 and a comparatively uniform and absolutely acceptable one on the replacement unit.Nico38 wrote: Thank you for your reply. Re: Question about the feel Nord Electro 6/Nord Stage 4 comp
Hi Nico38,
I suggest you try to find a music store which has a NS4 to play with. Even though the comments here may give you a kind of direction, the feel of the keybed is highly subjective and I recommend not to judge based on other’s opinions but test it by yourself

+1, when planning to spend the amount of money involved with this type of keyboards, it is well worth a trip to a shop where you can test them personally and then decide.Schorsch wrote:Hi Nico38,
