Inching up on 65 years old, I'm finding my lack of protecting my hearing at an early age is catching up to me. Whether it be the constant ringing in my ears of tinnitus, or having to compensate the volume and EQ of my left headphone to better match the sound through my right (result of years of a drummer being on my left), it's certainly something that could have been avoided with proper measures taken. Hearing aides are on the horizon that I'll at least have some capability to EQ, however my hearing disappears at about 10K, so goodbye to that. My apologies to anyone finding my programs too bright - compensation I guess Don't be me - find a good solution for yourself that will sustain your hearing for years to come. Best wishes to all of you, take care.

Re: Protect Your Hearing
This is really good advice. I realized in my early 20s (some 30+ years ago) that I was getting an overdose of loud music too frequently. At that time, I started wearing some wax-type earplugs that did a nice job of protecting my ears, though it was hard to hear what I wanted to hear very well on stage. After a few trials with different types of hearing protection (including the big headphone can-style protectors that people wear when at shooting ranges), I ultimately invested in custom-molded IEMs that I have been using exclusively for 10+ years. They are the single best investment I've ever made in any musical equipment. I can dial in the perfect stereo mix, balance my keyboards vs. band send, and my hearing is protected. I use my IEMs when I attend concerts, to protect my hearing - I still need to order a new set of custom-molded earplugs, which I had at one time and they are on their last legs.

Re: Protect Your Hearing
I’m kind of suffering from similar problems, having lost the capability of hearing above 10k on my left ear due to intensive 40 years of music without any protective measures at least for the first 25-30 years, but also because of a sudden hearing loss on my left ear which was only partially recovered. For this the programs of WannitBBBad are perfect for me, so thanks for making them bright

Re: Protect Your Hearing
Yes please, take care of your ears boys and girls! You only get 1 pair in a lifetime.
As eric mentioned, buying custom IEMs was the best choice I've ever made. And when we are done with a set, my IEMs go out and immediately plug in my custom molded plugs with filter.
Take care of your ears!

Haha, when you're my age you can't help sounding that way sometimes. Now get back to your lessons.
