Poor packaging
Poor packaging
To start off I have to say that I love my Nord Stage 4 -88 it's the best keyboard I have even owned, however..................I do have issue with the box it came in?
I don't mind buying a few carrots and potatoes from the supermarket in a flimsy paper bag to help save the planet but when I'm spending in excess of £4000 ! I expect the keyboard to be better protected. Why do Nord use in my opinion inadequate packing boxes? I expect many retailers have keyboards etc returned due to damage if my limited experience has anything to do with it. I had to return two keyboards, a stand and a wood music rest all damaged in transit. I know some of the responsibility is on the courier companies but the boxes Nord use are so flimsy and lack internal packing.
To give an example the packaging Kawai and Casio use is almost as heavy as their contents and I have never had a single bit of damage, these boxes are 'bomb' proof for equipment half the price of Nords if not less.
Come on NORD surely you must get a lot of complaints about this from retailers, I know they won't comment but it must happen to more people than just me.
Sorry to complain but it's needs saying.

Re: Poor packaging
Well, depends on whom you want to blame for. Nord instruments are shipped to the national distributors in packages of 10 or 20. In an adequate box for that purpose, as I think. I'm often puzzled about mail order companies who will ship their products to the end users in exactly the same boxes - with no additional packaging.
If you have any damage, send it back! And ask for a replacement in appropriate packaging. I have no idea if it's the producer, the national distributor or the retailer who have to learn.
I went fetching my Nord Stage directly at the vendor's. Didn't want to get it shipped another time.

Re: Poor packaging
I have to agree. I've received 5 Nord keyboards in the last two years and their packing boxes and methods are clearly marginal at best compared to others in the industry.roobarb69 wrote:To start off I have to say that I love my Nord Stage 4 -88 it's the best keyboard I have even owned, however..................I do have issue with the box it came in?

I second this - always pick up my instruments myself, don’t let them be shipped to me.FZiegler wrote:Well, depends on whom you want to blame for. Re: Poor packaging
Every Nord I've received in the mail was double boxed. This is pretty standard with retailers in the USA and I would have thought the same would be true elsewhere...

Re: Poor packaging
I'm in the USA as well. Every Nord I've received was double boxed, along with metal straps to add stiffness, end caps (this is the third layer of cardboard if you're counting) and some well-placed 1/2" staples to lock all the layers in place.

Re: Poor packaging
I'm also in the USA and none of my nords have come particularly well boxed. Nord's packaging leaves a lot to be desired. Its definitely pretty flimsy.

Re: Poor packaging
This is exactly how I've received all of mine. You'd have to try really hard to damage a Nord when it's packed this way. Maybe it depends on the retailer.dmamfmgm wrote:I'm in the USA as well. Re: Poor packaging
I picked up my Stage 3 88 at the store. I had the Stage 4 shipped to me. Both were in the same box: somewhat thick, but unimpressive cardboard, with three squishy foam supports. On the other hand, my CK88, picked up from the store, was in a much sturdier box with significantly more rigid styrofoam, and much more of it. That said, the Nord is built like a tank, and the Yamaha is…not.

Re: Poor packaging
I have to agree Nord's packaging leaves a lot to be desired compared to other manufacturers. When I got my first Nord, a Stage 2 EX, back in 2017 I was shocked at how inadequate the packaging inside the box was for such a premium product - having said that there were no issues. Fast forward to 2023 I bought a Wave 2 and nothing had changed - but still no issues so far fortunately! Nord are a strange company - they do so much that is great but, in my opinion, they are sometimes lacking when it comes to the basics which is disappointing when we are spending so much money.
