Re: Nord Stage memory Help
Maybe a bit basic, but...
The memory is only related to the sample files for Piano and Sample.
The Piano sounds You can only use Nords own - can't make your own.
The Sample sounds you can use theirs, or create your own with the Sound Editor.
These (plus the organ sounds that are not changeable) are the raw sounds that is the foundation of playable sounds, but you don't actually PLAY these...
The Programs is where one or more sounds gets put into use for actually playing.
In a program You can combine some sounds, define some parameters like keyboard sensitivity for piano, organ drawbars and sample attack/release, etc.
And you also select and set levels of effects for each sound.
And you also define which sounds should be active, split points, etc, etc, etc.
All of this is saved into a program.
So when You select this program you get the exact combinations of all of the above, but you're not consuming memory in the program since it's only "coloring" (as you put it) of the samples.
It's only the samples themselves that consume memory, and just once per file, not per program.
So if you have 100 programs that use the same sample you're not consuming more memory than if you have 1 program that use the sample...
Since You can change/delete/create/move programs you can surely have a bank of your own sounds.
Separate module - sure, but try out the sounds in the NS first.
It's very much worth to play around and find your favourites in your keyboard instead of complicating it with other gear.
The NS is a capable keyboard, so there's a fair chance you'll find sweethearts in it. But it may take some time to get into it.
But there's nothing wrong in having other sound modules.
I have a Yamaha stage piano as second keyboard which has wonderful key action for Piano playing, or serving as lower manual for organ playing, and a Roland MC-303 (just because I had one lying around) for additional sounds.
Can't advice though - depends on what you feel you're missing in the NS.

A good sound module to complement the Nord is the Roland Integra 7. Also, and iPad can function as a versatile sound module.
