Nord stage B3 sounds vs electro 4 B3 sounds

Post by Arielilu »

I know that the stage B3 is based upon the C2 and the electro 4 is based on the C2D
But how come the B3 on the electro 4 sounds way way way better and more realistic ?
The B3 sounds on the stage compact - seems synthetic , and boring...no edge on it what so ever.... Is it me?
I am about to get a new nord , I thought about the stage - which is a monster - but when I heard the hammonds I was disappointed , the hammonds sounds are very important for me. as for the pianos - they sound the same on both ( although the pedal noise option is amazing on the stage)- the synth section was limited and I don't really need the extra sample memory option. - B3 was disappointing - and I love the drawbars on the 4D !
So I think I'm getting the electro 4D and I might take a nord lead 4..... Just hopping that in 2 or 3 months - nord won't come up with a new stage 3 with drawbars - c2d sounding hammonds ... I'll be sick ... :keyboard2:

Hello

I have both the Stage 2 and Electro 4. I agree the B3 in the electro 4 sounds much better. But the real difference is in the leslie sim. There are some subtle differences in the base B3 sound - especially in the key click, but the leslie sim in the Electro 4 is far superior and is the main difference. Based on the recommendation of a couple of pro players I got a neo ventilator to use with my stage 2. This is a kick butt leslie sim pedal that many pros use and it sounds amazing with the Stage 2. It is even better than the one in the Electro 4. I route the organ to output 3 - dry - no effects into the neo ventilator. It sounds as good as anything out there. So if you go with the stage 2 consider that. The Stage 2 is fantastic in every other way. Only notable weakness is the leslie sim.

Good luck.

I wouldn't call it weakness. It's still good. But Ventilator is better of course.
