Nord Sampler Editor - Assigning Silent wav file ...

Everything about Nord keyboards in general; which one to choose, the sound manager, sample editor, and general discussion about the sample and piano libraries.

Nord Sampler Editor - Assigning Silent wav file ...

Post by sdmkeys »

Hi,

I'm working with the Nord Sampler Editor and would like to assign a single wav file to single key. I don't want the sound to "span" to the neighbouring keys.

I read through the forum and the solution is to assign a silent wav files to the neighbouring keys.

I tried this however the editor is not allowing me to assign the silent wav file.

The silent wav file I am using is a 16 bit file.

Am I missing something?

Thanks :keyboard2:

The required format is 16bit 44.1Khz.

What is the lenght of the "silent waveform" in the .wav you are using?

Consider that it cannot be 0, you need .wav with at least some fraction of a second of silence (i.e some 100s samples at 0)

Yes - the length was indeed 0.

So in the end I ended up creating a .wav file with a single note about 2 secs. into the recording.

Once I assigned/mapped this .wav file in the editor, I did the following:

1) Set the Sample Start to the very beginning of the sample.
2) Set the Sample Alt Start to the very beginning of the sample.
3) Set the Sample Loop/Stop to "Short Loop" and set the loop point at the very beginning of the file.

I added 3 silent .wav files to the project and the size of the sample file increase by ~100K - not too bad.

I just uploaded the file to the NS3 and it worked.

Thanks for your help!

That's ecev too much, I'd not use a silent sample, longer than 0.1s (anyway, what matters is that it now works for you)

Be carrefull with the threshold ! You have to set it at the minimum value or the editor will ignore your silent sample.

And I remember that your "silent" sample must have just a little bit sound (don' t record "silence" with source volume at 0 master level, let's keep the master volume of the source at 1 or 2 to have some white noise,it's enough).
