O.K I have a problem with Nord Sample Editor V2.28. I have been through the PDF User Manual three times but no info there.
First, the manual says "Connect the USB cable between the Nord Sample Editor and the computer and power up the unit."
How do I connect a cable to the Nord Sample editor, it is a software program, not hardware?
Then manual says "When the Editor finds a unit this will be indicated at the lower, right corner of the Editor window
and the Manager tab will open automatically. A list with all the current Samples in the unit’s Flash memory will appear in the Nord Sample
Editor window".
This is not happening. It says "connected" in the lower right hand corner (even when there is no Nord connected?) but the manager tab does not open automatically. When I open Manager tab by clicking on it, everything is greyed-out and not functioning.
When I Add a sample to the sample editor, it gives me the yellow highlighted assigned key, but no dotted keys, just grey zone. I can play the sample using the player function, but it will not Generate and Download.
I have the latest Clavia driver installed (V3.02) and am able to use the Sound Manager software. What am I missing here, is there a secret word??

Re: Nord Sample Editor HELP!!!!!!!
I have looked on the Nord site to see if I have the correct version of sample editor, and my Nord Electro 6 is not on the list of supported platforms for v.2.28??

Re: Nord Sample Editor HELP!!!!!!!
Can you swap out your USB cable for another one?
Have you tried a different USB socket on your PC?

All USB sockets work with other applications and hardware, I'm on Windows 10. USB cable works fine for Sound Manager. I don't have a spare. Nord do not include a dedicated cable in the box (cheap). I had to download the sound manager and sample editor as they were also not included in the box.

Re: Nord Sample Editor HELP!!!!!!!
They may work with other applications and hardware, but whether the cable works for your instrument is the issue. Look around in the forum: long cables can be a problem sometimes. Also you need a USB driver if using a windows PC.

Re: Nord Sample Editor HELP!
Cable works with instrument (Nord E6) as I use it with Sound Manager. It is a long cable though. I was a bit disappointed with Nord for not supplying a dedicated cable, the boards ain't cheap, the only thing included was the mains lead. I've had USB cables supplied with much cheaper items. Also not even sure what this configuration of USB cable is called?
Any answers, tips, or advice would be willingly followed up. I love the keyboard, but the ancillaries are driving me mad.

Re: Nord Sample Editor HELP!
My Stage 3 came with a USB cable.
The cable is a USB 2.0 A to B style (note: not a USB 3.0, not a micro B or mini B) cable. Any quality USB A to B cable will work fine. I strongly recommend if you are having USB trouble to NOT use a USB Hub. Some hubs cause problems with some gear. Nord keyboards have zero USB issues normally, so the problem is almost certainly with your cable or the intermediate equipment. It's best to keep USB cables shorter than about 3 meters, I typically use 2m cables with no problems at all, although I've used 3m quality cables with also no problems.
The issue with long cables has nothing to do with the receiving equipment and almost everything to do with the USB standard and the fact that there are so very many crap cables out there with bad shielding. The longer a cable is, the more exposed to interference it will be, and this can easily overwhelm correctly specified USB equipment at certain data rates. Buy quality USB cables, avoid hubs when possible (if not possible buy only hubs that are known to work with your gear - hubs are quite often a big source of problems) and keep them in the ~2m or less length and you shouldn't have any issues. Also, don't run hard drives or other high-speed high-data devices alongside MIDI devices on the same hub or USB host port in your computer.

Re: Nord Sample Editor HELP!
I now have a top quality (gold connectors etc) 1.5 metre audio quality U.S.B lead. I do not use a hub and all other external drives are disconnected. Problem is still there. I have downloaded and re-installed the Sample Editor software, still the problem persists.
I have sent the problem to Nord,s tech support dept, will let you know if anything solves this issue.

Re: Nord Sample Editor HELP!
Sounds like possibly an issue with the computer hardware not recognising things properly or a dodgy driver issue. Have you checked the actual chipset USB drivers for any issues or updates that could be done there?
Unbelievably I have my Stage 3 connected via 2x ebay cheapo linked 5m USB cables, one being an extension so 10m in total to the computer, and into my Kensington hub....all is good.
Not taking anything away from above advice given... When things dont work you sometimes have to just try anything and everything, but short gold plated platinum wires are not always an essential
