Agree 100%. Been saving my pennies but not for speakers
I don't want to derail this topic, but the recent promotion of the C2D led me to speculate that Nord is trying to close them out and would be introducing an upgrade/replacement soon. That's all.
With regard to the speakers, I see this as more of a business decision than a musical one. Even on this forum, there have been multiple questions about how to properly amplify the instruments for home/personal studio use. There's even a current thread on it. From a business perspective, this is easy entry. Nord is doing none of the manufacturing. They researched business partners, had some input into the sound shaping and then shared their color spec to paint them. Low risk, and fills a need. It really doesn't matter how many they sell.
Nor are they the first company to do this. For years, Yamaha has offered custom speakers for their Tyros line. Korg has a similar offering for their PA series. Korg also currently have an agreement with Sequenz to sell their Sonic Bar as a keyboard monitor. It's represented as a stage monitor, but could easily fit in a studio or home.
