Help me choose !!!! I have a Nord Stage 3 Compact. I need a second keyboard with 88 keys. Nord Grand sent it back to the dealer, because the mechanics were very heavy on my hands and I didn't make friends with the dynamics. 2 years ago in the store, I did not feel the difference between the Nord Piano 4 and the Nord Stage 3. Both keyboards fit me perfectly.
Now I choose between Piano 5 88 and Stage 3 88. I also need to use it for live performances in a cover band. Moreover, you may have to deal with one keyboard, less often two. Do the new features of the Nord Piano 5 take precedence over the Nord Stage 3. Or can we wait for Stage 3EX to add everything Piano 5 has.
Are there those who use two Nord keyboards at once on live performances? If so, which ones?
Sorry for my English)

Re: Nord Piano 5 88 Or Nord Stage 3 88
Hi Megasonics -- I'm not sure about your question.
On paper, the Stage 3 88 has much more firepower and flexibility than the Piano 5 88. Organs and synths, for example. The few things you find on the Piano 5 that are not on the Stage will likely be there soon, typically in the form of a software upgrade, but no guarantees.
As far as piano actions go, it's a subjective call. I liked the Nord Grand action, as I do the Nord Piano 4. I had problems with the Stage 88 weighted action as the aftertouch strip robbed the key of upward bounce, and it kept distracting me. I have been told that the newer aftertouch strips are firmer in that regard. Many of us use two boards, one with a weighted action, one unweighted. Trying to do parts meant for one on the other is not fun.
A lot of us here use two Nords. Some even use three
My setup is a weighted action Nord Piano 4 below, sending midi to a Stage 3 Compact. Yes, it's a bit pricey for a weighted 88 controller, but velocity curves match perfectly, looks great and I have a backup on stage and ready to go if the Stage 3 ever dies.
I recently purchased another Stage 3 Compact to have as a spare, but also to experiment with bringing even more sounds to some songs that way.

I think I have gear issues ....

Re: Nord Piano 5 88 Or Nord Stage 3 88
Hi cphollis. Thanks for the answer. A wise decision, but I believe in the reliability of the Clavia. For you, the ideal solution is to have a keyboard with a bounce upwards in Stage 3 88. It's just not comfortable for me to play Hammond on Stage 76 \ 88. And the piano is not comfortable on 73Compact not only classical pieces, but also something simpler. Synth is convenient play in principle on all keyboards Stage 3. Just how rational it is to have a Stage 3 Compact and Piano 5.
