Hello,
i own a Nord Piano 4 and i know that the sounds are replaceable.
Probably there are other XL samples on the way... but at this moment i'm thinking 50% to 50% returning the piano 4 and get a (old) Yamaha CP4...
I know there 's also the Kawai MP7SE and 11SE but i love to hear opinions just Yamaha CP4 or Nord Piano 4.
Thank you forummembers.

Re: Nord Piano 4 vs Yamaha CP4
Dave Ferris is a huge fan of the CP4 and a long time owner and user of this model, probably the best on this website to ask an opinion for...For the MP11, Derrelpiper returned a Stage 3 and bought one, he should be a good one to get advices from...When/If I will have the cash, for sure the MP11SE will be my go to piano for pure classical pieces but I will never let my Stage 2 go, too much fun to program and play in a live situation...

Re: Nord Piano 4 vs Yamaha CP4
Up until about 6 months ago I owned both the Nord Stage 2 and the CP4 which I used together.
What the CP4 does do very well is give you a fantastic action from its keybed. Its lovely to play on and very solid, all in the benefit of a package which weighs in around 17kgs which is pretty impressive. I preferred it to the Nord FATAR keybed,... that said, I dont have an issue with the Nord Keybed and still enjoy playing on it very much. Since I sold the CP4 I cant ever remember thinking... I need that Yamaha keybed back.
Nord by FAR has the better sounds particularly the pianos. The CP4 sounds are thin and quite lifeless and artificial and i quickly got bored of them and used to play the Nords sounds through MIDI instead.

Re: Nord Piano 4 vs Yamaha CP4
OK, thank you Quai34 and kirsty.
At first the Nord sounds didn't do it for me since i was used to the bright Yamaha CF3s sound from CP300, CP1, CP5 etc...but they growed on me .I often use the Royal 3D and Studio Grand 2 now.
Also a CP4 successor must be around the corner; the CP4 is getting old.No ?

Re: Nord Piano 4 vs Yamaha CP4
I sold nu Yamaha CP 4 a few weeks ago! Liked the keybed action. And playing at home; the sounds were ok. But in my Band the CP 4 didn’t cut thru in the mix. Used it with several speakers and equalizing but was never satisfied. Never had cut thru problems with my Nord stage 2 which i still have. Sold the CP 4 to the musicstore and got me the Nord Stage 3 compact.

Re: Nord Piano 4 vs Yamaha CP4
Having played both, I'd sum it up this way.
The CP4 is a great keybed with some decent sounds thrown in.
The NS4 is a great sound engine with a decent keybed thrown in.

I think I have gear issues ....

Re: Nord Piano 4 vs Yamaha CP4
TonBeljon, cphollis,
thanks for your reactions.
I have no single problem with the NP4 keybed, i think is a TP40M ( NS3 88 is a TP40L) or NP4 is a TP40H (NS3 is TP40M). I don't know for shure.
I keep the NP4 but if Yamaha does release a successor NAMM19, the battle is open again...

Looking forward to more details on your NS4 at some point
(I made this mistake myself previously on this very board).
