Nord E 5 or Nord Stage 2
Hello, in your opinion what is the most complete keyboard? Nord Electro 5 or Nord Stage 2?
Thanks

There is no doubt that the Stage 2 is more complete. It has the programmable Synth with an Oscillator, and pitch bend and modulation for expressive solos.
The E5 just has sample playback with a single envelope control. If the synth is not a big deal for you, the E5 has a much newer organ section (with available drawbars on the D model) and newer effects section.

It's worth adding that even if you don't think you have much use for a synth because you just want to play samples, on the NS2 I think you have much more control over how the sample sounds - you can change the attack, decay and release, and apply a filter (LPF, HPF, etc.) Which is all pretty useful if you want to modify your program on the night. i'm not sure how much of this (if any) will be possible on the E5, which I believe is designed as more of a bread & butter workhorse than a 'tweakers' instrument. (although true tweaking joy can probably be only found on the NLA1 and the NL4DJKeys wrote:There is no doubt that the Stage 2 is more complete. And now for something completely different...

Wait till Nord Stage 3. It will include all features of NE3 and NS2 plus much more new features. But the issues are time (it's still not clear if that would be 2015) and price which could be 20% higher then the current NS2 price.

Re: Nord E 5 or Nord Stage 2
Of course they're planning a Nord Stage 3.
The changes to the nord electro that was updated earlier this year are so substantial as to make the nord Stage 2 look like much less of a good deal.
Nobody has any information whatsoever about when it might be released — probably not even official nord reps outside of headquarters.
My gut feeling, though, clavia being the small, conservatively run company that it is (and needs to be), is that it will likely be 2016 at the earliest.

Re: Nord E 5 or Nord Stage 2
I had the same dilemma two months ago.
To buy the NS2 or to wait for the NE5?
Or -even more- to wait for the NS3?
In the end, I bought the NS2 76HA despite the organ/fx/memory advantages of the NE5 73HP, because I prefer the HA, not the HP keybed.
Plus, I don't think there 's ever gonna be a NS3 76HA. It's more likely to see a NS3 73HP instead.

Re: Nord E 5 or Nord Stage 2
Of course the NS2 will be replaced... Take a look in the products section at Nord's website, the NS2 is the last in the page.
And shurely all the upgrades in the E5 will be available (and increased) in the NS3, wich i think will be a real beast!! Drawbars, new leslie and B3, more memory, oled, more slots, upgraded effect Section...
No doubt the Stage is the "flagship" keyboard of Nord, and the Electro will not have features much ahead of it.
But this is just me... Dreaming... No crystal ball hehehe
