I am a basic keyboard player covering from guitar. I am also an older person. I love the sounds of Nord instruments. Can someone recommend which Nord I should consider. I know this is a wide open question but, I cannot figure out what features are on each of the boards, An example is the Leads 4 has a chord memory function which I think I would use. I like having the ability to use a synth and at the same time be able to have a smooth piano, strings, and organ. Is the Lead 4 or 1A a good choice. My local GC has a used Electro 5D for $1800, which seems like a good deal but limited on synth ability.
Help please. Remember I am not a fluent keyboard player.

Re: Nord Consideration
Hi PJ
Well, most Nords are oriented towards performance for people who play keyboards. Not strong on the whole "band in a box" thing, although there's great computer software for that these days. Nord assumes you have a certain level of skill, and you sort of know what you're doing.
If you do, many find them to be wonderful instruments.
If you want a synth, buy a synth. If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can have a lot of fun for not much $$$.
Other brands and models might be closer to what you're looking for. The 5D does all the bread and butter sounds quite well. Piano, organ, rhodes, etc. Synths are sampled.
BTW, more than enough for what I do. But, then again, I play keyboards
The price offered may be good, or not, depending on whether it's a 61, 73 or 88 key version. While I agree with you on the quality of the sounds, it might not be what you're looking for.

Re: Nord Consideration
Thank you for your thoughts. I have a Kronos 2 88 for use in my home studio but occasionally, I go to play with friends of mine. While I am a guitar player, I am fascinated by keyboards and have come a long way in the learning process. I am just not efficient at playing both hands. I am still focused on the Nord and might consider a Dave Smith Rev 2 but there is just something about the Nord sound.
Again, thanks for your input.
