NL4 or NLA1

This is the right place if your topic concerns different Nord Keyboards, you are not sure which one is the right one for you, etc.

Post by Amos Music »

Hi guys

im new to this forum and im currently in the market for a Nord Lead, i produce uplifting emotional trance and progressive trance, i owned a NL3 in the past and sold it along with all my other hardware (which i regret now) but im just on the lookout to buy a NL4/A1

i was just wondering if anyone has used these for trance production and what would be best suited for me.

any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I love the A1, but for modern sounds I would prefer the NL4.

If you regret selling the NL3, why not buy NL3 again?
I have the NLA1, that I also love! I can't say anything about the other Leads. Have you youtubed the NLA1? That way you can get an idea of the sound.

I have an A1 and I just bought a L3 because the more I read up on the ergonomics on the L3, the more I thought that was what I really wanted. It also has Aftertouch (which kind of implies a better Fatar was used) whereas the keyboard in the A1 is pretty suboptimal.

@derrellpiper.
How much did you pay for your NL3? I start to see them around 1000$/1200$ wich was not the case 2 years ago when I bought my Prophet 08 instead of the NL3. Some people on this forum had told me that the P08 will make a bigger difference with my NL2X than the NL3, so, I bought the P08 but at that price, I might give it the NL3 a shot...

Looks like it was $1,350 for the L3 and $1,319 for the R3. The was one more L3 out there and no other R3's, when I bought these two off eBay.

NL4 and NLA1

NLA1: I use it for "classic" patches ...
NL4: I use it for experimental stuff ...

Have both. Perhaps the NL2X is the best? ;)
