I usually wait until .3 updates. Most major bugs are fixed by then, and the software I use tends to have been updated by then. I have a text document where I keep track of compatibility status for all my mission-critical software.

I usually upgrade my MacBook right away, but this year I’ll check all my plugins and software...
iPhone and iPad are already running iOS 13, so I can’t use Reminders on my Mac temporarily...

Yes it looks like the only DAW that will support Catalina from day one will be Logic Pro X :->.

Steinberg, Native Instruments and Ableton issued advisors to their users to not update to Catalina until further notice.
I think i'll just relax and make music while they take a few month solve their problems :->

This one is bigger - Apple has significantly increased security requirements for software developers - old software and equipment that does not conform is simply not going to run in Catalina. This is not just a Nord thing.

Anyone purchasing new Apple PCs with Catalina is going to have issues, or will need to investigate downgrading from Catalina.

Nah. There have been major issues with stuff all the time. The 64-Bit kernel was a big one, and the SIP in Mojave took its toll.
Not to mention the switch to Intel.

There’s a big one every few years.

I thought Cubase 10 already supported 64-bit. I downloaded a trial but can't remember whether I had a choice between a 32 and 64 bit installer...
Cubasis 2 on the iPad is 64-bit, though. Every iPad released since 2014 has been 64-bit only.

Still, Apple's not to blame, as they have been issueing warnings about the switch to 64-bit for years, so I find it surprising that most companies aren't ready yet. They should have been preparing for it for a long time, and I'm sure they've had access to beta versions of Catalina for a long time for testing purposes...
If you're a small independent developer, working alone or with a small team, I can understand that it's not always possible or easy to assign the necessary funds and people to develop a new version of whatever software you've developed, but for companies like Nord, Steinberg, Korg, etc., who have plenty of resources, there's no excuse for not being ready before, or at least on the day of Catalina's release.

"Do not update" is the easy way out... That's like putting up a sign saying 'Careful, road in bad condition' instead of repairing said road... That's my take, anyway.

This is the first time I've seen this many vendors throwing up warnings - not the same. A number of older titles/devices are simply not going to be updated.
