New Nord OS Updates

Postby musicaldudeist » 08 Jan 2020, 16:32

If you head on over to Nord's website, several of the keyboards have new OS updates.

Nord Grand, Nord Wave 2, Yamaha YDP-184, Arturia Keylab 49 MkII, Studio Logic SL88 Grand, Pianoteq 7 Pro, Garritan CFX, Teenage Engineering OP-1, and a smattering of Ukuleles.

Seen, for NS3, NE6, NP4 and NG. According to the history they are all related only to an "Update to production test routine" so nothing user-critical or beneficial.

It's for OS Catalina compatibility ...i'm on snow leopard so i can't do the update
If i had a partition whith Catalina and make the update , will it be always compatible if i boot on snow leopard ...?

Why can't you do the update? The updater doesn't have to run on Catalina.

"Download for Mac OSX. For Catalina users: Ctrl-click the app icon and select "Open"." This message only means if you are running Catalina you have to "Ctrl-click" to open the updater.

Also as previously stated, the v2.24 NS3 update doesn't fix any user-facing problems so not sure there would be any reason to do the update.

Snow Leopard was released over 10 years ago. I wasn’t able to find anything with a quick check on the Nord website regarding OS requirements to run an update for the Stage 3. Have you been able to run updates prior to 2.24?

Maybe now Nord compiles those updates to run as 64bit applications and as you can read on that wiki entry not all combinations of Snow Leopard and Macs can run them, some combinations are still 32bit only (maybe the case of our friend who should update the OS on his Mac, if possible)

This update has nothing to do with Catalina.

that's the point I wanted to make. :)

obviously the test processes update must be related to potential new software nord might release or changes forthcoming. we can only but wait and see. both my machines are updated either way and working fine.

Usually that type of "production test routine" updates are related to the introduction of new service tests or modification of existing ones (to add features or due to a change in some component, even secondary but part of the test)
